Oreck's Story
9/8/26: We had temporarily had Oreck on hold as he had developed an infection (probably related to his recent neuter). We treated Oreck and he is nearly all healed up now and back to being a bouncy, happy, lovable pup who just loves getting attention. We feel that he is once again ready to find his forever family and start on his new life!
Oreck came into rescue with several other dogs and puppies after their owner was told that their insurance would cancel due to the numbers of dogs they had. Oreck is as cute as he can be! He is approx 10 weeks old now (as of 8/26/26) and we think he is a chihuahua/dachshund (and maybe a few other breeds in there) mix. He should remain small (probably 20 pounds or less give or take).
Since Oreck is just a baby, he has lots to learn and it will be his family's job to teach him how to grow up to be the best dog that he can be. Being a baby, he can literally fit into any home and family environment since he will adapt and socialize to it.
Oreck will need to be potty trained so please plan to housebreak your new baby. He will also go thru the puppy chewing phase so make sure he has plenty of toys and appropriate chew items so that he doesn't turn to personal items. Oreck is a lovebug and just loves attention! He also really loves his food! He is a happy little soul who would love to bless your home with his presence! If you are ready for puppy shenanigans, consider giving Oreck his forever home!
Oreck saw the vet on 8/25/26 and was found to have no issues noted. He has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention with us but he is still too young for a heartworm test until he is at least 6 months of age. He tested positive for hookworms and we have dewormed him with Drontal. Oreck weighed 4.34 pounds as of 8/25/26. He is fully age appropriately vetted now (will need puppy vaccination boosters every 3-4 weeks until he completes the series at 4 months of age and gets his rabies). He is ready to find his forever family.
If interested in giving Oreck his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Oreck's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Oreck based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
