Opal Terrier Mix Southport, CT

Hi, My name is Opal and I am 1 of 18 dogs rescued from a horrible life near the Texas-Mexico border. We are a group of several different family units of varying dog breeds all living together on an abandoned property where if we were not perishing from starvation or heat stroke we were also being shot at for target practice/fun/sport/boredom? It’s very disturbing, so when 4 Little Paws Rescue heard about our plight they made a 10-hour drive to save the 18 survivors. Now some of us are in foster homes and some are at a doggy daycare so we can all be safe and well cared for. Most of us are puppies or youngsters like me, a Terrier mix about 1.5 years old, weighing 11 lbs and I am living at the daycare. I am a sweet girl, shy at first, but that’s totally understandable. I am still adjusting to all the changes but in just a few days I was already making friends with all the staff members. I am a medium-energy sort of girl that loves other dogs, loves to play, and loves to sit on your lap. I am looking for love and affection but am a bit nervous about receiving it. Everyone is very gentle with me while I am learning that humans can be lovely. I am starting to enjoy this new way of life, with indoor living, snuggly dog beds, regular meal times, and lots of love and attention for the taking. I will be ready to say bye-bye to Texas in a couple of weeks when I move to Connecticut. I’m looking for a forever home filled with love, kindness, and some fun new adventures! I’ve never gone for a walk to the park, or anywhere, so a bit of practice using a leash sounds exciting!
