Opal's Story
Meet Opal, a spirited 4-year-old French Bulldog with the perfect mix of bossy charm, playful mischief, and melt-into-you cuddles. This sweet girl has been through a lot, but she has never let her past take away her sparkle.

Opal came into the shelter in rough shape. She was dirty, malnourished, and her eyes were in very poor condition. Because of how neglected she looked, the shelter initially thought she might be around 10 years old. She was reportedly found as a stray and arrived needing significant care for eye ulcers, ear infections, skin issues, and overall poor body condition. She also had a scar that was later confirmed to be from a previous C-section, and before she could be ready for adoption, she still needed to be spayed.

Despite everything, Opal quickly became a favorite at the shelter because of her incredibly sweet demeanor. She was gentle, affectionate, and full of personality, even when she clearly didnt feel her best.

Since coming into rescue, Opal has made a beautiful transformation. She has gained weight, her ears are doing much better, her skin has improved, and her eyes are more comfortable with ongoing care. Her condition has been upgraded in the best way, and now that she is feeling better, her happy little personality is really starting to shine.

Opal is everything people love about French Bulldogs. She is funny, opinionated, affectionate, and just a little bit bossy in the most lovable way. She loves toys, snacks, sunbathing, naps, storytime, and being close to her people. She has an adorable grin that shows off her tiny front teeth, and she knows exactly how to use it to make you smile.

Opals energy level is medium. She enjoys playtime, but she is also very happy to settle in for a nap or cuddle session. She is a classic velcro dog who wants to be near her people and soak up as much affection as possible.

Opal does have some medical needs that will require continued attention. She has glaucoma in her left eye and bilateral dry eyes, so she will need regular eye medication and monitoring. She also has a food sensitivity and is currently doing well on a special hydrolyzed diet. Like many Frenchies, she will need consistent skin and ear care to keep her feeling healthy and comfortable.

Opal does well with kids and is friendly with strangers. With other dogs, she can be selective and will need slow, thoughtful introductions. She can guard food and sometimes her favorite people, so she will do best in a home that understands boundaries, structure, and safe management around meals, treats, and attention. A home with a smaller number of pets, or possibly as the only dog, may help her feel most secure.

Opal is crate trained, house trained, and knows basic commands like sit. She is okay on leash but could use more practice building her confidence and walking skills. She can ride in the car, though she is a little nervous, so patient, positive experiences will help her improve.

The ideal home for Opal is one where someone is home often, understands French Bulldog care, and is committed to keeping up with her medical needs. She needs a loving, patient family who will continue helping her feel safe, confident, and cherished.

Opal has come such a long way from the neglected little dog who arrived at the shelter. Now she is healthier, happier, and ready for the forever home she has always deserved. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate, slightly sassy Frenchie with a huge heart, Opal may be your perfect match.
