Omen $99 ADOPTION FEE's Story
UPDATE: APRIL 22: when Omen went in for a recheck post-op, a lump was noticed on his lip. We sent it out for testing and today, the results came back as a mast cell tumor.

He will have surgery April 29th to remove the lump and we will also check for cancer cells in his lymph nodes, liver and kidney's to determine if it has spread or not.

Omen is still available for adoption, understanding he will need a compassionate and kind home to welcome a good dog with a potentially shorter lifespan.

More details to come to this profile as medical results are returned.

If we determine the cancer has not spread and his surgery is successful, his adoption fee will return to his original adoption fee: $875

Omen shows absolutely no signs of being sick & is 100% his joyful, energetic self.

=============================

This is Omen, he's 6 years (DOB: April 11, 2019) old and was surrendered to a Canadian shelter, with reasons unknown.

Omen arrived, really struggling to breathe as his nostrils were so tiny with very little airflow and he had an elongated palate (extra tissue at the roof of his mouth that extends into his airway) obstructed his airway.

Brachycephalic (short-nosed) dogs are not meant to live their lives snorting, gagging, snorting, snoring, noisy breathing and struggles to exercise. They do , because of Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BOAS).

Omen had surgery to correct his breathing issues March 23.

Omen also had severe periodontal disease and required 20 teeth to be removed. And finally, he was cryptorchid (his testicle was in his abdomen) and needed a much bigger neuter surgery.

Omen is doing great, post-op. His total cost of surgical care: $4,481.61

We also learned, via his microchip, that his original name is Caesar.

Omen is just a great little dog, weighing in at 22 pounds.

Omen is on Tom & Sawyer Fresh Prepared Cooked dog food, due to needing soft food with all his surgeries and dental. Tom & Sawyer has kindly offered Omen's adopter a 30% lifetime discount on his food purchases, should an adopter choose to keep him on this food as a whole meal or food topper.

Omen will fit into most lifestyles, but he does need someone home most often or take your dog to work options, as he truly values human companionship. I think he's an easy candidate to develop separation anxiety if his people were out of the home for hours each day.

Omen is good with dogs, cats, kids and all humans. Just a beautiful soul in dog form.

He is as healthy as a Frenchie can be and with all his surgical intervention, should have many good years ahead of him.

FROM THE FOSTER;

Omen is a gentle, loving boy who truly just wants to be close to his people. When he first arrived, he was nervous and would shake in new situations, but it only took about two days for him to settle in. Since then, he has become a little shadow, always wanting to be near and connected to his family.

Omen is very affectionate and thrives on physical touch. Whether you are sitting on the couch, cooking in the kitchen, relaxing on the floor, or going to bed, Omen will happily stay close by and lean into you for comfort and love. He is a quiet, calm companion and has not barked during his time with us.

He is learning his basic commands well and responds to his name, a click or kiss sound, and simple commands such as āsit,ā āinā (for his crate, especially with a treat), and āwait.ā Omen is food motivated and eager to please, which makes training enjoyable and rewarding.

Omen is house trained and has done very well with a routine. He had a few accidents when he first came into foster care, but now goes straight to the door when he needs to go outside.

Omen is a happy and social boy who enjoys meeting people and other dogs on walks. He loves a good walk and exploring the neighbourhood, but in true bulldog fashion, he will occasionally ābrick upā and stop when he feels ready to head home, needing a little encouragement to continue.

He is especially wonderful with children ā patient, calm, and happy to sit and listen while they read stories to him or spend quiet time together.

Omen loves cuddling on the couch and relaxing with his family, though he does need help getting onto the couch or encouragement with doggy steps. Omen can do stairs, and carpeted stairs are best for him, as it took him about a week to build confidence using them in our home.

Omen is truly a really good boy with a gentle heart and a loving spirit. He will make a beautiful addition to a family that is patient, kind, and willing to continue building his confidence. With love, routine, and companionship, Omen will be a loyal and devoted companion for many years to come.

----------------------------------------

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
