Olive COURTESY POST's Story

Olive is a young female Jindo (mix?) that we are listing as a courtesy for her current owners. She is not with our rescue, nor has she ever been part of our rescue.
If you are interested to find out more about Olive, please email us and we can put you in touch with her current owners. She is in Costa Mesa CA 92626.

info@twodogfarms.com

1. Age and weight

Approximately 2 years old. 30lb

2. Spayed/Neutered or not

Spayed

3. Vaccination status (rabies, DHLPP etc)

Rabies, DA2PP, Canine Influenza, Lapto

4. Being wormed/flea/tick treated monthly?

Not currently

5. Any medical issues (when did he/she last have a vet check up?)

No medical issues, had bloodwork in August was normal

6. How does he/she behave around men/women/children/strangers/people on the street/other animals

She used to be very passive, but since the baby arrived she has gotten more aggressive with strangers. Aside from my husband, myself and my mom who comes over frequently to help with the baby, Olive is very hesitant to strangers and shows some aggression when out on a leash to other dogs, especially large dogs. We took her a few times to the dog park before the baby arrived and she would run around on her own but didn’t react to the other dogs. Absolutely does not do well with kids under 10. She is/was fine with my niece who is 10 but nipped at our 2 year old nephew and has nipped at the newborn.

7. Normal daily routine (food/exercise)

First breakfast 6:30am, walk from 7-7:45am, second breakfast before leaving to work at 8:30am. Sleeps on the couch or in crate during the time we are out at work. We have a nanny cam and she rarely would get up unless there was a delivery/someone knocked on door.

walk when getting home from work around 5:30, first dinner right after. Final walk at 9 to pee and last dinner before bed around 9:30.

She slept in our bed before the baby, but trained her to sleep in living room and she adjusted very well before the baby arrived using the “Dog Meets Baby” training program.

8. Indoor or outdoor dog? (or both)

Indoor. We give her option to lay outside during day when we are home but she has separation anxiety and wants to be around us when we are home.

9. Level of training (what commands does he/she know/how does he/she walk on leash/reaction to seeing other dogs when on leash)

She is very food motivated. She knows sit, shake, stay, being quiet/soft barking when she hears a noise, high five. She reacts about 50% of the time when she sees a dog while on leash, she does a lot of pulling when on leash.

10. Any particular likes/dislikes (how is he/she about being handled/petted – any sensitive areas, like ears, feet etc.)

She doesn’t like to be pet on the rear, that is when she reacts the harshest, especially if she doesn’t see you coming to pet her. But generally likes to be pet by owners and likes attention. Very hesitant being pet by strangers.

11. How does he/she react to riding in the car/going to the vet/can he/she be lifted.

She is fine being lifted, she does fine on car rides and generally will sit most of the time.

12. Has he/she ever bitten any other animals/people? If so, what was the severity and was medical action needed?

She has had a few instances. One time she bit me when her dew claw was stuck on her paw and I was assisting in getting unstuck. This was minor and just split my cuticle. She has bit my dad twice, he didn’t read her cues when he was petting her. both times on the hand and she was not quick to release his hand and these caused more serious puncture. No stitches needed.

13. Any separation anxiety issues or other behavioural issues?

She will whine if we are home and she is behind the baby gate when we are trying to separate her and the baby. She doesn’t cry or bark when we leave her home alone, just seems to want to be near us when we are home unless it is bedtime.

14. Where did you obtain the dog from and why are you attempting to rehome the dog now? How long have you owned the dog?

We got her from the South LA shelter in December 2024. We are attempting to rehome due to her unpredictable behavior around our newborn baby and activity she has shown around other young children. We have had her for 9 months. We had our previous Jindo for 10 years.
