Olga's Story
Olga is living in a foster home. Please complete an application and email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org if you are interested in learning more and arranging a time to meet her!

Scroll through her pictures to see her cute video content!

Olga is a southern belle who made the journey all the way from Alabama to start her new chapter up north with us. And before we say anything else, we need to clear something up: photos do not do Olga justice when it comes to her size. She may look like a bigger dog in pictures (and we thought she was bigger until we met her in person, too!) but this lovely girl is sweet and petite-just 40 pounds of pure sugar!

Olga has a quiet, gentle presence that makes people instantly fall for her. She's a bit demure at first, taking a moment to take in her surroundings,
but you will quickly see just how affectionate and loving she truly is. She has the softest way about her.

While Olga enjoys companionship and affection, she isn't a high-drama or high-energy kind of girl. She was such a good presence in playgroup with all of the other dogs. She was not too wild, but still engaging and playful, and ultimately happy to just be in the mix with her new dog pals.

We are so happy for Olga that she has been able to relax in a foster home so we could get to know her a bit better. Her foster mom states that Olga has never had an accident; she is completely housebroken. Olga is crate trained, but maybe take a few minutes to settle in there. Once she does, she will nap.

Olga's fosters live in Chicago, and the transition from rural Alabama to a city full of noises, sounds, and sights has been tougher for her. She will startle at bikes and scooters whizzing by, and busy playground with lots of kids running around seem to be too much for her. She has been to pet stores and is scared of the shopping carts- things like that!

Olga would do best in a quieter area, but her fosters say Olga is much more able to conquer any "fears" with a dog pal. For example, a trip to PetSmart with her sister's husky was much better than when Olga went alone and was more scared of her surroundings. Venturing in with her dog friend, Olga's foster mom reports, "She did not want to leave the store and wanted to greet every dog that came in and out. A personal store-front greeter! Upon leaving store she was walking in full strides and confidence to the car."

Overall, "Olga is the most carefree and flexible-schedule pup! Whether one has to work at home or attend to chores around the house, Olga knows how to occupy herself, patiently waiting for attention by one's side. She loves to take naps, but also has FOMO, so she will follow along whenever there is activity to be part of the crowd too! Olga is shy with strangers and new environments at first, but she warms up quickly that she forgets what is personal space anymore and it would be hard to escape her shower of kisses! Olga is a very sweet and silly pup, who is ready to find her forever home to blossom even more with!"

If you're looking for a petite, gentle, and loving companion who will quietly steal your heart, Olga might be the perfect match.

Olga's adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
