Oakley Siberian Husky Scottsdale, AZ

We originally took in Oakley when he was around 9mos – he unfortunately had already begun developing glaucoma, which is a disease that can cause eventual full blindness. Oakley can still partially see, but noy great. He gets his eye drops daily now and this has stabilized his condition fortunately! Longterm he will need eye pressure check-ups and eye drops – hopefully his condition can be managed in this respect, though there is always a risk later in life of needing surgery, especially if his adopter doesn’t keep up on his drops!

We found him an awesome home originally with a family of adopters that tried their absolute hardest to make things work – unfortunately their existing dog who they had owned a lot longer was just not having it. He needed to be more dominant and was not understanding that often when Oakley would push his boundaries, he wasn’t actually aware of what he was doing because he couldn’t see great! So as a result we think Oakley would do better with more submissive dogs.

We also feel he is actually a lower energy husky due to his eyesight issues. While he would do well with a calmer dog or a dog that is very aware of and responds well to others and their boundaries and needs, though he would also do just fine as an only dogs. Oakley has the same quirks and drama spats as all huskies have…you may find him behind a curtain or under a table! He is a spunky, goofy boy who loves to vocalize and in general just wants to play in whatever way he is able.
