Meet Nuzy

UPDATE as of Jan 27th: Because of considerable interest in Nya and Nuzy, we are no longer accepting new applications.

Hello potential adopters! I am Nya and Nuzy’s foster mom and I want to tell you about them. They are approximately 3 months old and we think maybe Spaniel/Retriever mixes? We really don’t know. They weigh about 15 pounds. They are just the cutest and most fun puppies I have ever fostered! Their personalities keep me laughing on a daily basis. And have you seen their ears?!

Nya and Nuzy are goofballs! They love to cuddle and will climb right into your lap and put their face in yours, then give you kisses, kisses, and more kisses. (They don’t believe in personal space!) They love to chase each other around the yard and jump on each other. You know they’re playing because you will hear them. Nya is a bit more vocal than Nuzy and would do best in a single family home.

They are both doing great with potty training when kept on a consistent schedule. They know “go potty” and that has come in handy when I need to leave and put them in their crate. They sleep all night (8 hours) in their crate. They will usually happily run into their crate when I say “kennel.” Of course, they know they’re getting a yummy, high-value treat or bone. I also feed them in their crate; this helps teach them the crate is a good place to hang out! Nya gobbles her food up really fast so she eats out of a slow feeder.  Naps are so important for puppies that I make sure they get a few each day.

Nya and Nuzy are very respectful of the two large resident dogs. When the big dogs correct them for their puppy antics, they react appropriately by backing off. They love meeting new people, but have not been around kids or cats. They are going through their mouthy stage and have sharp little shark teeth, so older kids may be a better fit.  But no worries, this stage doesn’t last long! If any of this sounds good to you, you know what to do!

Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
