Nova's Story

Calling all GSP aficionados! Nova is a stunning liver and white German shorthaired pointer girl who has inherited the traits of her breed AND been able to use them as a bird dog in the north. Unfortunately allergies in the family mean that sweet Nova needs to find a new postal code with someone who loves the breed and respects what it takes to keep them fulfilled. Her previous owners gave Nova a life of couch cuddles mixed with lots of offleash time so that Nova could expend her energy and exercise her mind. If you love the outdoors, intelligent canine companionship and adventures, Nova is ready and waiting to find an active life and love again.

Nova has lived inside as a much loved family member. Kongs, dog beds, regular meals and her very own family (dogs and people) mean that Nova is a well adjusted girl who will make an awesome addition to the right home. Nova has been raised with kids and GSPs can be fun and active playmates with kids who are not afraid of a boisterous dog friend. Pointers are also known for making excellent companions especially for people who love to kick it up in nature. If you are a camper, hiker and outdoors person, Nova is the one for you! Nova would love a dog brother or sister to talk dog to and expend some pup energy.

Nova is housetrained and has good recall. She is goofy and kind with the intelligence of a working dog and the heart of a homebody. She is smart and wordly and being a northern dog means that she has had ample time every day to interact with her environment and to be a pointer. German short haired pointers have beautiful short haired coats (that do shed, yes), athletic bodies and a sunny disposition. As all dogs, Nova has built a bond and a way of communicating with her person through positive reinforcement and is looking to bond again with her new compadre. Breeds who work cooperatively with their people have an affinity for that bonding and Nova can't wait to find her next soulmate.

Nova is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated (DAPP and rabies). Her adoption fee is $850.

If you are interested in being part of the Nova sweepstakes fill out an adoption application below (copy the link below into your browser).

Adoption process includes application, virtual home visit, phone interview, reference check, meet & greet, adoption contract and $850 adoption fee.

***Fill out the ADOPTION APPLICATION at:
https://signup.ifaw.org/en-ca/northern-dogs-adoption-application-form

Northern Dogs Project's Adoption Policy
Northern dogs are not a breed but a lifestyle. Until recently most dogs were free roaming but communities are now making changes to how they want to coexist with dogs and many are now tying. Dogs are all identified by Animal Care and are adopted to families in the south as family members only. Northern dogs are smart, experienced, dog social, have been handled by kids, feel safe with women, and are slightly unsure of men at first. Dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (core vaccines DAPP and rabies), microchipped and dewormed.
