Nikko's Story
Nikko entered Coachella Valley Animal Shelter as a stray, and sadly, he wasn't claimed. We welcomed handsome 9-year-old, 60-pound sweetheart on March 9th. He has enjoyed several Frosted Flings, and every foster family has come back with glowing reviews. We can't believe he's still waiting for his forever home!

Nikko is as friendly as they come. He loves everyone he meets - people, kids, and other dogs alike. He already knows the SIT and DOWN commands, enjoys walks and car rides, and is always ready for his next adventure.

One of the first things you'll notice about Nikko is his constantly wagging tail. He's a genuinely happy dog with the perfect balance of playful energy and laid-back companionship. He'd love an active family to join him on hikes, neighborhood walks, or outdoor adventures, but he's just as content curling up beside you on the couch for a quiet evening.

Here's the scoop from his most recent foster family:

"Nikko is ready for his forever home! He is such a sweet dog, and we really enjoyed having him in our home. He settled in fast! The first week he was a total Velcro dog, following us everywhere, but by week two, he'd relaxed and started showing his personality.

Nikko loves playing fetch with his squeaky ball, snoozing on the couch, and soaking up attention whenever he could get it. He was gentle with our 5-year-old and never barked at anyone who came to the house. He knows Sit, Fetch, and Come commands, and he is potty-trained (only one accident on the first day).

Nikko is not a picky eater, and we were able to put some much-needed weight on him. He tolerated bath time fine and slept through fireworks with some white noise on. Nikko loves a good walk and has a good amount of energy, but settles well afterward. He does pull toward other dogs on leash, but not aggressively; he's just excited. He'd do well with a family who can continue working on that with him. We think Nikko would do great in a home with another dog.

Nikko likes water but isn't much of a swimmer, preferring instead to play on the shallow shelf in our pool (see video). He easily goes into his crate and doesn't bark when home alone. He'd also likely do fine with some freedom when home alone, too. Nikko is smart, affectionate, and easy to live with."

If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion with an easygoing personality and a heart of gold, Nikko may be the one for you. He's ready to make someone's house feel like home!

To meet Nikko, please email:
placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
