Nikkie's Story

Meet Nikkie! This beautiful girl is about 8 months old and weighs 52 pounds. She is happy and sweet and ready to go home!

From AKC.org: Berners get along with the entire family and are particularly gentle with children, but they will often become more attached to one lucky human. Berners are imposing but not threatening, and they maintain an aloof dignity with strangers. Berners are intelligent and eager to please, so they are usually easy to train. They are also affectionate and openhearted; their feelings are easily hurt, and so they don't respond well to harsh corrections or training methods.

Nikkie is a cast off from an high volume breeder in Amish country who came in as part of a load of rescues. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with these dogs. They could have been the wrong color, size, fur, whatever. We are lucky enough to work with a vet in the area who cares enough to scoop up these dogs and get them adopted instead of ........??

Adoption fee is $550

All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include:

~spay/neuter
~micro-chip
~de-worming
~vaccinations, including rabies
~heartworm prevention

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit:
www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application
(copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application.
Complete and email back to applications@AshlandHumane.org

We are an all volunteer-based organization that does not have a building or a staff, only 8 members with jobs and families, trying to make a difference.
