Nico's Story

Meet Nico
Location: Oak Hill, OH
DOB: 02/06/2025

Nico is a happy, loving boy with a big personality and an active spirit. He’s a smart, affectionate dog who enjoys being around his people and thrives when he has plenty of exercise and stimulation. Nico does best with an active family that can provide multiple walks a day or other outlets for his energy to help keep him happy and out of trouble.

Nico gets along well with dogs his size or larger and has done great living with a female Great Dane and another dog his size. He enjoys canine companionship when matched appropriately. However, Nico does not do well with cats or smaller dogs. While he isn’t intentionally aggressive, he plays too rough for smaller animals, so a home without cats or small pets is required.

Nico has previously lived with children and did well overall, though he can play a bit rough with smaller kids. Because of this, he would do best in a home with older children who understand how to interact respectfully with a larger, energetic dog.

When meeting new people, Nico may be a little wary of men at first, but he warms up quickly and becomes friendly and affectionate once he feels comfortable.

Nico is house trained and has good manners in the home. He walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and goes into his crate without issue. He previously destroyed a crate tray, which may have been due to excitement or frustration, but overall he settles well when crated.

One of Nico’s best qualities is his joyful, easygoing personality. He’s a very happy boy who listens well and enjoys spending time with his people, whether that’s going for walks, playing with canine friends his size, or simply relaxing at home after a day of activity.

Nico’s ideal home would be with an active person or family who can meet his exercise needs. He would do well as an only dog or with a compatible medium-to-large dog companion. A home without cats or small pets is required, and older children are recommended.

Nico is ready to find a home where he can continue to thrive, stay active, and share his happy, loving personality with a family of his own.

All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are now in one place:
https://linktr.ee/Srgdrr
If donating, please note who or what your donation is for.

Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
