Nicko's Story

Meet Nicko! 🐾

Nicko is an almost 2 year old, 88lb Anatolian Shepherd mix with a gentle heart and a love for the great outdoors. This sweet boy is currently thriving in a foster home, where his foster family has gotten to know just what a wonderful companion he is. They’re helping him learn the skills he’ll need to be a fantastic addition to his forever family.

Nicko is house-trained, knows several basic commands including sit, come, and stay, and is working hard on his leash manners and learning ā€œdown.ā€ He’s a smart pup who enjoys learning and wants to please, though he does have a touch of that classic guardian-breed independence.

He gets along well with both male and female dogs and has done well with teenagers. While his experience with younger children is unknown, his gentle temperament suggests he’d do best in a home where everyone understands and respects large dogs.

Some of Nicko’s favorite things include:
🐾 Spending time outside—especially when it’s cool!
🌿 Rolling around in the grass
šŸš— Car rides with the wind blowing through his fluffy coat
šŸ’¦ Drinking from the garden hose
🄜 Licking the last bit of peanut butter off a spoon
🪟 Watching the world go by from the front window
🪮 Being brushed (it’s one of his favorite ways to relax!)
ā¤ļø Snuggling—when he decides it’s cuddle time!

Nicko also walks up a vehicle ramp with ease, tolerates baths without complaint, and isn’t bothered by thunderstorms.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily join you outdoors, keep you company around the house, and reward your patience with unwavering devotion, Nicko may be the perfect match. He’s smart, gentle, a little stubborn, wonderfully playful, and an absolute joy to have around.

Because Nicko is in foster, please contact Blount County Animal Center to arrange a meet-and-greet. Once you meet him, you’ll quickly see why his foster family thinks he’s such a special boy.
