My name is Nena and here's more about me:<br/><br/>PHYSICAL INFO:<br/><br/><br/> Breed: Border Collie/Sheltie mix<br/> Age: 7 years 1 month approx. <br/> Gender: Female<br/> Weight: 49lbs (22 kg) <br/> Height: 50cm (paws to top of my head)<br/> Length: 70cm (head to butt)<br/> Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico<br/><br/><br/>RESCUE STORY - I'm not gonna lie, it's been a rough life for me folks! I used to live with an unhoused person for a couple of years, but during that time I was neglected, malnourished and mistreated. When some angels stepped in and finally rescued me they noticed I was super skinny and I had developed resource guarding and a prey drive. This is likely because of the tough times I had when I was younger and food was not guaranteed for me. They took me in and I started working with some nice trainers and have made some progress. However, I'm not a big fan of other dogs - It's not that I bark or anything (I'm really not a noisy gal), I just don't like them much. I would thrive in a home as an only pup, where I can be super affectionate with my people!<br/><br/>TEMPERAMENT - I'm a very relaxed, chill pup with a pretty low energy level. I like to spend my time lazing in the sunshine! I also am not noisy or jumpy at all, I'm a quiet and afectionate pup who really bonds with my people. I loveeeee cuddles and belly rubs!<br/><br/>ENERGY LEVEL - Low<br/><br/>GETS ALONG WITH:<br/><br/><br/> Kids – Unknown.<br/> Dogs – No thank you. I tolerate adult male dogs but prefer human company!<br/> Cats – Unknown but unlikely due to my prey drive.<br/><br/><br/>PREY DRIVE - Yes I have shown a prey drive. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.<br/><br/>TRAINING:<br/><br/><br/> Leash skills – Pretty good. However, a well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!<br/> House trained – My rescuer says I am good with this but I may need some additional training and patience. <br/> Crate trained – My rescuer says this is a work in progress and I may need some additional training and patience. <br/> Car rides – My rescuer says this is a work in progress and I may need some additional training and patience. <br/><br/><br/>Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. <br/><br/>HEALTH NOTES: <br/><br/><br/> I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.<br/> I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.<br/> NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits.
