Nellie is a loving and playful one-year-old, 60-pound Lab / Retriever mix. She is house-trained, does best with routine, and is still working on letting her human know when she needs to go outside. Nellie is also crate-trained but she is vocal when she is in there. When her foster dad is out, she has been okay left to roam the house along with her foster brother without issue.

Nellie has done well with children she has met, and with slow, controlled introductions coexists with the resident dog in her foster home. When meeting other dogs, she has been selective and introductions will also need to be slow and controlled. She would not do well in a home with cat(s).

She is leash reactive and does not yet recognize social cues and ends up jumping up and pestering other dogs trying to get them to play to the point where she will need to be separated. She is working on this in her foster home, and a forever home that will continue this training is important.

Nellie is a total sweetheart with her human and loves to climb up and be a lap dog, get belly rubs, play fetch for as long as you are willing, and go for long walks. She'll need a calm, patient human who can provide redirection and positive reinforcement for good behavior as she's shown a tendency for demand barking when she wants to play. A tall, fenced yard would be ideal for Nellie as she loves to run around and let out some energy! She has not shown interest in jumping the fence; however, she has shown a propensity to try to push the gates open and escape.

Nellie lives an active lifestyle and would love someone who will take her hiking or on long walks. She really will need to have a single-family home and yard to play in. It is likely she will warm up to other resident dogs eventually and would love someone who will be patient with her as she learns to socialize better, but as a constant cuddler, she would love to be an only dog and the center of attention!



Her adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.

Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
