Nash's Story

Meet Nash

Nash is a 9-year-old Great Dane and an all-around good boy with a heart full of love and a surprising zest for life. While he may be a senior, Nash still wakes up every day ready for adventure—especially if it involves a walk or a car ride. In fact, he’ll happily remind you it’s time to go with a little whine! He may tire out quicker these days, but that never dampens his enthusiasm for getting out and exploring the world.

Nash is wonderfully social and easygoing. He does great with children, cats, other dogs, and even chickens. Whether he’s out in public with music and people or relaxing at home, he takes everything in stride and doesn’t startle easily.

He’s a playful guy at heart—he loves to fetch a ball, then proudly bury it like treasure. Digging isn’t his thing unless it’s part of his little game! Around the house, Nash is a perfect gentleman. He’s fully house trained, can free roam without any issues, and doesn’t need to be kenneled. He does have mild separation anxiety, but it’s manageable and he’s not destructive.

Like many dogs, storms aren’t his favorite. During thunder, he’ll want to be as close to you as possible—sometimes attempting to squeeze under the bed despite his size, which is as endearing as it is a little impractical.

Nash walks well on a leash and loves to stop and sniff everything along the way. A fenced yard would be a bonus, but not a requirement, as long as he gets his daily walks (twice a day is his ideal routine). One of his happiest places is riding in the car with his head out the window, soaking in all the smells.

He’s also got a charming quirk—Nash was once taught to give hugs, and meeting new people often means he’ll gently put his paws on your shoulders to say hello. It’s his way of showing affection, and he’ll happily listen if you tell him “no.”

Nash would do well as an only dog soaking up all the love, or in a home with other pets to share life with. Most of all, he’s looking for a family who will embrace his gentle spirit, playful quirks, and love for companionship.

If you’re searching for a loyal, affectionate companion to share walks, car rides, and cozy evenings with, Nash is ready to be your best friend for lif

Nash is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300.

To read over the adoption requirements before applying to adopt, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. Approved adopters must travel to pick up the dog in person.

Our adoption requirements are as follows: 1. All Dogs and Cats in your home MUST be spayed or neutered. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet only. 2. All Dogs and outdoor Cats in your home MUST be current and have been kept historically up to date on annual vaccinations and monthly (or semiannual) heartworm and flea prevention. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions to this in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet, ONLY. 3. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to adopt and be able to prove you're financially able to care for a great dane should a medical emergency arise. 4. You must own the property in which you live or your landlord must be willing to verify that you are allowed to have a Great Dane in your rental home. We check property records.? 5. Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered. In addition, if the adoption does not work out, it is your responsibility to bring the dane safely back to us. 9. There may be multiple applications for the same Dog. Our Great Danes are placed in the home we believe most suitable for them, based upon their individual needs and temperament. 10. Before applying below, please expect this application process to take about two weeks. If you are applying from out of area or state, please expect a slight delay. It will take us more time to get the home visit set up. At any time, if you have questions about the status of your application, please email the rescue at nwflgdr@gmail.com.
