Meet Napoleon

Meet Napoleon! While we do not know his exact breed mix, he has a Great Dane look and is currently 98 pounds (1 year old)! He doesn’t believe he’s not a lap dog, so when he tries to snuggle “next” to you, he’s on top of you more often than not. But when you look into those sweet chocolate eyes, you can’t help but give him the pets and belly rubs he lives for!

Napoleon is a loveable goofball who likes to play with his toys. Whether he’s chasing a ball for fetch, playing tug with a rope, or carrying around and cuddling with a stuffed animal, he’ll always offer you a chance to play too. He loves nothing more than being around his people. He often comes up to you and puts his head on your hand just to say hello and sneak in an extra ear rub (his favorite). And if you do it just right, he’ll lean into you and practically melt onto the floor!

Napoleon doesn’t currently sleep in a crate, but he has at a previous foster home placement. He’s happy to sleep on the couch at night by himself. He has someone home with him most days, but he has been left alone to free roam for up to 5 hours without any problem. He rides well in the car, but might try to co-pilot from the passenger seat until you tell him he’s too big to ride up front. He enjoys daily walks, but is new to his leash manners and can get excited when walking somewhere new. He is fully house trained.

He was very underweight when rescued, so he currently gets fed three times a day to try to put on some healthy weight. He no longer counter-surfs for food, but if you leave something out within his reach, he’ll probably find it! He wants to help you with cooking your meals and unloading your groceries, and he’s especially interested in helping you load dirty dishes into the dishwasher.

His typical days starts around 6:30/7:00am when he’ll always try to convince you to give him his
breakfast before going outside. He’s pretty calm in the mornings and is usually happy to go back to sleep for a couple of hours. He normally gets lunch between 12:00-1:00pm. A walk between 2:00-3:00pm. He has been known to get a burst of energy before dinner, around 5:00-6:00pm, but that’s also when some of his people come back home, so it could be the excitement from that! If you spend 10-15 minutes throwing a toy for him and chasing him around, then give him his dinner, he'll be pretty relaxed the rest of the night. He reluctantly goes outside before bed, between 8:00-9:00pm.
