Nanook's Story
Introducing Nanook, and you seriously need this cuteness in your life! What does Nanook have to offer? Tiny polar bear appearance? Check. Happy go lucky personality? Check. Non-barker? Check (at least for now). Floof? Check. Funny, clown-like behavior? Check. We could go on but you get the picture. This little guy will bring laughter, joy, and love to your life.

Nanook is a total clown. He loves to sploot and does a good belly-up presentation as well. He's learning to sort of walk on a leash but thinks running like the wind and then doing zoomies on the next-door neighbor's lawn is the funnest thing ever. While he's at it, he belly's up so you can see how round a belly can be. It's hard to tell what Nanook is going to do from one moment to the next. He's a conundrum wrapped in a riddle.

Nanook is the sweetest, most loving puppy ever. He adores people and has interacted well with the doggy playdates so far. He loves kids too but due to his exuberant herding dog behavior he isn't a good fit for a home with very young children. While he hasn't met any cats yet, Nanook's siblings have all met cats and are appropriately deferential to them. There is nothing to make us think Nanook won't get along with cats too!

Nanook's probably not going to be a competitive athlete/10K hiker/and so on. But he will be a wonderful, loving, and active companion to the right home. He's been very good about using the dog door to go outside to potty and shouldn't be difficult to train to ask to go out when you adopt him.

On to the boring stuff. Nanook was born on Feb 9, 2026. He's had all three sets of his puppy vaccines, is micro-chipped (so you don't lose him for heaven's sake), and has been wormed.

Nanook came on transport from Texas. Mom is a black-tri Australian Shepherd dog but we don't know what dad was, and mom isn't talking.

If you are interested in adopting Nanook , please fill out the application on our website at: https://www.westernaustralianshepherdrescue.com/adoption-application.html.

We schedule meet n greets after a completed application which includes a home visit and reference checks. We will be looking for forever homes who have a plan for training, exercise, and socialization to help Nanook be his best in most situations.

Nanook is located in Portland, OR.
