It is believed that she had been abandoned from a car and had been left to fend for herself for several days.<br/>She was frightened, severely underfed, and understandably cautious. Yet something about Nala was different. She never tried to run away and showed none of the typical behaviors of a dog who had spent her life on the streets. Instead, she simply hid, waiting and hoping someone would help her.<br/>Even when food was offered, Nala was too frightened to approach.<br/>With patience, kindness, and time, everything began to change.<br/>Slowly, Nala learned that she was safe. She began allowing physical contact, then affection, and eventually trust. She is expected to be a medium-to-large-sized adult dog.<br/>She is:<br/>- Extremely intelligent and quick to learn<br/> -Affectionate and loyal — she loves being close to her people<br/> -Athletic and playful — she absolutely loves running, playing, and retrieving a ball<br/> -Dog-friendly and enjoys socialization at doggie day camp<br/>- Friendly with children and has shown no negative reaction toward them<br/> -Shy but friendly with new people<br/> -Housebroken, while still needing regular puppy potty breaks<br/> -Crate trained and happily goes into her crate, especially when a treat is involved<br/> -Learning leash skills<br/> -Already knows come, sit, down, off, and leave it<br/> -Generally quiet and calm with a natural ability to settle<br/>- Alert without being a constant barker<br/>- Very sensitive and eager to please<br/><br/>Nala is still a puppy, and like all young dogs, she will thrive with continued training, structure, patience, exercise, and positive reinforcement.
