Mykey's Story
Mykey is 15 years old (yes...FIFTEEN!), weighs 17 pounds, and is proof that seniors are the best!

He came to us after his previous owner went into the military and could no longer care for him. At his age, that kind of change is a lot but Mykey has met it with something really special: trust. Even after losing the only home he knew, he still leans into people with hope and softness, he's just waiting for his next person to find him.

Mykey has severe dry eye and very limited vision, but he can likely see shadows. He requires daily eye medication to keep him comfortable. After careful veterinary evaluation, we are not pursuing surgical removal of his eyes, as he is still able to navigate his world with his remaining vision and support care and putting him under anesthesia at his age could be risky.

For a senior boy, Mykey is still very curious and engaged with the world around him. He'll make his way toward anything interesting especially if it might involve snacks! Some of his favorite treats are strawberries and peanut butter but he's not exactly picky ;)

More than anything, Mykey loves people. He enjoys being held, cuddled, and included. He has a gentle, affectionate nature and really thrives when he's close to his humans. He also does well with other mellow dogs and enjoys calm companionship.

He can often be found napping in the most random, endearing spots like he's just decided that wherever he is, that's home for the moment.

Mykey would do best in a calm home with someone who has experience with senior dogs and understands the rhythm of caring for an older pup. He doesn't need a fast-paced life just a soft place to land, steady care, and someone who sees the value in every moment with him.

After everything, Mykey is ready for comfort, routine, and most of all love!
