Mushroom's Story

Meet Mushroom!

Mushroom is just a weird little guy looking for his weird little family.

Mushroom is about four years old (yes, we're sure) and he's about 13lbs so pretty standard for a shih tzu. He is either mostly or completely blind in one eye. We aren't sure if it's trauma or just unlucky genetics - he is scheduled to have the eye removed so it won't be a bother to him anymore!

Mushroom didn't come from a great situation. He was so completely matted that it was painful for him to move. Once he was shaved down, he started to open up more, but he's still got a ways to go - he isn't completely shutdown, thankfully, but he is a more reserved kinda guy. That may just be his personality or he may come out of his shell more once he's comfy and secure. We just don't know. He does seem to be sensitive about having his head/face touched which may be because he can't see very well but that's something to keep in mind.

Mushroom does well with other dogs in the sense that he just doesn't seem to have strong feelings about them either way. Is there another dog nearby? Cool. Whatever. As far as cats, he's more interested in their food than in them. Again, very go-with-the-flow as far as other animals. We are asking that any kids in the home be 10-12yo+ because we aren't sure if he's been around littles and have no idea if that mild-mannered attitude would apply to them as well.

Mushroom is a pretty independent dude. He doesn't need to be glued to you at all times so he would be good for someone who works full-time. As long as he gets his walks, he's content. If you want a walking partner for leisurely strolls, Mushroom is your man!

To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application.
