Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

Meet Mugsy. He is a 10yo, neutered, Australian cattle dog mix. This guy LOVES his people and wants nothing more than to have a nice family to call his own. Mr. Mugsy was surrendered to the shelter when his family couldn’t keep him anymore. He spent 3 long months there before Senior Dog Haven and Hospice found out about him and was able to pull him. He was now on his way to a better life.

Mugsy is looking for a family that wants to be with him often. When his foster family is home, he is right there with them, laying by their feet. When they have to go to work, he patiently waits for them to come home. Mugsy is a talker and will bark to get your attention, get food, go potty, etc. Sometimes it seems he is barking for no reason at all. Maybe he just likes his voice?

Mugsy is a bit overweight and needs some help slimming down. He started his new lifestyle at 78lbs. He is now down to 62lbs. He has about 7 more lbs to lose. He loves going for short walks exploring the world. Mugsy also have a mass on his side. The vets says it’s most likely just a fatty lump from being overweight but it will need to be monitored to make sure nothing changes.

Mugsy is good with kids and likes the company of other dogs. He would prefer a home with other animals to keep him company when his family isn’t home. He doesn’t usually play with his friends though. Mugsy has bad hips and would prefer a home without a lot of steps. Overall, he’s just a sweet guy looking for the right family to call his own.
