Ms. Maggie IA/MN's Story

Miss Maggie is a breeder release. Initially used to produce babies, her socialization with humans was nonexistent. She learned to trust and rely on the dogs that were caged near and around her. Learning to cope, trust, and acclimate to the world outside of a breeding cage is slow in progress...baby steps, although those baby steps still move forward.

Maggie is 5 years of age and approximately 12#. She hesitates to "come" to her human, but will when time and patience is granted. Once in the arms of her human, she loves the feel of a cuddle. Upon initial meeting, she is timid and will shy away.

Maggie came into rescue nearly a year ago. She was adopted to a single, retired woman who doted nearly every waking moment on her and she has progressed in great strides, however, her home did not have a fenced yard, nor was there a fur-sibling for Maggie to socialize with. She stalled in her forward progress.

We consulted with a certified trainer. For Maggie's benefit, progress, mental and emotional well-being, she needs a home with a fenced yard and a fur-sibling.

Maggie does very well with leash-walks and loves to sleep with her human at night. She is an active dog when she has a fur-sibling.

APPROVED APPLICATION REQUIRED TO SCHEDULE A MEET AND GREET

ADOPTION APPLICATIONS CAN BE ACCESSED ON OUR WEBSITE: almosthomefoster.com

Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization.
