Ms. Gorgeous Gloria's Story

Hi… my name is Gloria.

I’m a 2.5 years old Border Collie mix with a soft heart and a gentle way of loving. I weigh about 50 pounds, but my soul is quiet, thoughtful, and tender. I came a very long way to be here — crossing oceans, leaving everything familiar behind — because somewhere out there, my forever family is waiting for me.

I am happy, healthy, spayed, vaccinated, living with my foster family in Port Hope, ON and ready for the next chapter of my life. I can travel to other provinces if there is a potential family for me

I am available for adoption in Port Hope, ON. My adoption fee is $850CDN.

Adoption Application Link: https://forms.gle/v3pZu61Vk7b47uTc9

(If not clickable, copy & paste into your browser)

Here is my story:
I’m not the kind of dog who rushes into new things. I like to watch first. I like to feel safe. When I meet new people, I may hang back for a moment, just long enough to learn your voice and your energy. But please don’t mistake my shyness for distance — once I trust you, I’ll choose you. I’ll come sit nearby. I’ll lean in softly. I’ll stay.

Children have a special place in my heart. I don’t jump or get wild around them. I just like being close… lying near their feet, quietly sharing space, soaking in their calm. My foster family says my gentleness really shines then — and I think that’s true.

Inside the house, I’m peaceful and well-mannered. I love cozy evenings, curling up on the couch, and resting near my people while the world slows down. Routine makes me feel safe, and when my needs are met, I settle beautifully. I don’t ask for much — just kindness, patience, and a little reassurance.

But outside? Oh, that’s where my spirit stretches its legs.
I love running, hiking, exploring nature, and feeling the earth beneath my paws. Snow makes me happy. Trails make me feel free. When I bond with you, I’ll check in naturally, staying close even off-leash, because connection matters to me more than anything.

I don’t really care about toys — I’d much rather chew on a bone or a bully stick and relax. Those little rituals help me feel calm and grounded. I’m crate trained, and if I’ve had a good run or hike, I can stay home alone for a few hours without worry. Car rides make me a bit nervous right now, but I’m trying, and with gentle encouragement, I know I’ll get better.

I’m still adjusting to my new life, and sometimes big feelings overwhelm me. When that happens, I need patience — not pressure. I’m not destructive, and I truly want to do well. Calm voices, consistency, and understanding help me find my balance again.

With other dogs, I do best with slow, thoughtful introductions. I’m learning, decompressing, and growing every day. What I need most is time — and someone who sees sensitivity as a strength, not a flaw.

If you choose me, I promise you this:
I will love you quietly but deeply.
I will be loyal in a way that lasts a lifetime.
I will walk beside you on trails and rest beside you at home.
And once you earn my trust, I will never stop choosing you.

I’m Gloria… and I’m ready to come home

Nowruz Animal Rescue Group's Adoption Policy
Our Foster-to-Adopt Process At Nowruz Animal Rescue Group, we follow a foster-to-adopt process to ensure that each pet and family are a perfect match for one another. This approach allows both the dog and the adoptive family to adjust and bond before making a lifelong commitment. Step 1: Application Once a pet is listed for adoption, interested families are invited to fill out an online application form. This form includes: Three personal references The name of the veterinarian who will care for the pet Step 2: Application Review & Phone Chat After reviewing the application, we contact strong candidates for a phone interview. This gives us a chance to get to know the family better and answer any initial questions. Step 3: Home Check If the phone conversation goes well, we arrange a home check to ensure the living environment is safe and suitable for the specific pet. Step 4: Meet & Greet Next, we schedule a meet and greet with the dog and the family—either at the home or a secure, neutral location. One or two meetings may be arranged so everyone, especially the pet, has time to feel comfortable. During this time, we also complete reference checks. Step 5: Foster-to-Adopt Trial If the family decides to move forward, the dog begins a foster-to-adopt trial period. We deliver the pet to their new home along with essentials such as: Collar and leash Food and treats Favorite toys We encourage families to stay in touch throughout the transition. If you need support or guidance, we are just a phone call away.
