Mr. Mini Lion Buddy (Tripaw)'s Story

My Name is Buddy — The Little Tripaw with a Big Heart

Hi, my name is Buddy. I’m a 3½-year-old Tibetan Spaniel/Terrier mix weighing just 16lbs, and I live for love, cuddles, and walks under the open sky.

I may only have three legs, but my heart has never been stronger. I run, I play, and I love with every bit of who I am.

I’m neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated — ready for a fresh start. I have a medium energy level, which means I love to play and go for walks, but I’m just as happy relaxing by your side.

I live with my foster mom in Ridgefield, WA and can travel to Vancouver, BC when there is a potential adopter. My adoption fee is $600USD.

Adoption Application Link: https://forms.gle/v3pZu61Vk7b47uTc9
(If not clickable, copy & paste into your browser)

Here is my story:

My story began with pain — but it’s ending with hope.

A Past I Won’t Let Define Me

I once had a family… or at least, I thought I did. I believed I was safe, loved, and home. But life changed in a heartbeat. One day, I was attacked by a few dogs — I cried out for help, terrified and in pain. My leg was badly injured, the pin from a previous surgery snapped, and I could barely stand.

I waited for my family to come for me… but they didn’t. They turned away when I needed them the most. I remember lying there, scared and confused, wondering why love had to hurt so much.

And then, just when I thought my story was over — a miracle happened. A kind soul heard about me and refused to let me suffer. I was rescued, held gently for the first time in so long, and rushed to the vet. The doctors tried everything, but my leg couldn’t be saved.

Still, they saved me. And for that, I’ll be grateful forever.

A New Beginning

The day I woke up after surgery, I remember looking down and realizing my leg was gone. But you know what? The pain was gone too. For the first time in a long while, I felt free.

Everyone expected me to take time to recover — but I surprised them all. Within days, I was hopping around, tail wagging, eyes sparkling, showing the world that I was still Buddy. Still full of life. Still full of love.

I learned to walk again. Then to run. Then to chase butterflies and wag my tail like nothing had ever happened. I realized something important: you don’t need four legs to be whole — you just need love.

The Dog I Am Today

Now, I’m a happy, confident little gentleman who loves life and everyone in it.
I’m house trained, leash trained, crate trained, and love car rides — especially when I can stick my nose out the window and feel the wind in my fur.

I adore being petted and pampered — I’ll even nudge your hand gently if you forget to keep petting me! I love going on walks, exploring new places, and meeting new people. My eyes light up whenever someone calls my name, and my tail never stops wagging.

I’m social and playful with other dogs, no matter their size. I’m brave, gentle, and affectionate — the kind of dog who will always be by your side, through every up and down. I haven’t been tested with cats yet, but I have such a kind heart that I’d likely make friends with anyone.

At night, I sleep peacefully in my bed — or better yet, curled up beside my person, feeling the warmth of love I once thought I’d lost forever.

What I’m Dreaming Of

I’m waiting here in Vancouver, hoping that someone out there will see me not as “the dog with three legs,” but as the dog with endless love to give.

I dream of a family that will never give up on me. A home filled with laughter, gentle hands, and long walks together. A person who will look into my eyes and see my soul — not my missing leg, but the strength and sweetness that survived everything.

I promise to make you smile every day. I’ll follow you from room to room, listen when you talk, and comfort you when you’re sad. I’ll be your shadow, your little guardian, your forever friend.

Because that’s what love does — it heals everything.

My name is Buddy, and I’m proof that even when life knocks you down, love can lift you back up.

If you open your heart to me, I’ll spend the rest of my life showing you that you made the best decision in the world.

Waiting with love and hope,
Buddy

Nowruz Animal Rescue Group's Adoption Policy
Our Foster-to-Adopt Process At Nowruz Animal Rescue Group, we follow a foster-to-adopt process to ensure that each pet and family are a perfect match for one another. This approach allows both the dog and the adoptive family to adjust and bond before making a lifelong commitment. Step 1: Application Once a pet is listed for adoption, interested families are invited to fill out an online application form. This form includes: Three personal references The name of the veterinarian who will care for the pet Step 2: Application Review & Phone Chat After reviewing the application, we contact strong candidates for a phone interview. This gives us a chance to get to know the family better and answer any initial questions. Step 3: Home Check If the phone conversation goes well, we arrange a home check to ensure the living environment is safe and suitable for the specific pet. Step 4: Meet & Greet Next, we schedule a meet and greet with the dog and the family—either at the home or a secure, neutral location. One or two meetings may be arranged so everyone, especially the pet, has time to feel comfortable. During this time, we also complete reference checks. Step 5: Foster-to-Adopt Trial If the family decides to move forward, the dog begins a foster-to-adopt trial period. We deliver the pet to their new home along with essentials such as: Collar and leash Food and treats Favorite toys We encourage families to stay in touch throughout the transition. If you need support or guidance, we are just a phone call away.
