Mr. Hugger Orlo's Story

Hi… I’m Orlo.

I am about 4 years old Beagle/ shepherd mix, weighing about 70 lbs with giant heart and am the greatest hugger of all the time.

I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and available for adoption in Vancouver, BC. I can travel to Washington or Oregon for the right family.

My adoption fee is $600USD.

Adoption Application:

https://forms.gle/Xzw8a5zpebKT3w6q6

(Please copy & paste if the link is not clickable.)

Here is my story:

I don’t really know how to tell my story, because I’m just a dog. I don’t understand why some dogs get lucky right away while others spend years waiting for someone to choose them.

What I do know is this…

I still believe in people.

I still wag my tail when someone looks at me kindly.
I still do my little happy dance when I get excited.
And I still gently place my paw on your leg when I want you to know I love you.

I heard my foster family call me “the hugger.” I think it’s because I lean into people with my whole heart. When I sit beside you on the couch and look into your eyes, I’m not asking for much. Just love. Just safety. Just someone who won’t leave again.

I’m around 4 years old now, and honestly, I’ve become a pretty simple guy. I don’t need wild adventures or busy dog parks. I don’t need perfection.

I just dream about the little things.

A soft couch.
A quiet home.
Someone saying “good boy” like they mean it.
Morning walks where I can sniff the world.
Movie nights where I can rest my head against your leg.
A family who understands that sometimes big dogs have even bigger feelings.

People say I’m calm and gentle. Slow-moving. Sweet. They laugh when I tap my front paws side to side when I’m happy. I don’t even realize I’m doing it… my heart just gets too full sometimes.

I love the beach. The sand makes me feel peaceful. I love watching the world quietly instead of rushing through it.

And yes… I’ll admit it… lately I’ve been acting like a bit of a wet-food prince. Maybe it’s because I’m still settling in. Maybe because after everything, being spoiled feels nice for once. 😌

There are still things I’m learning. The city can feel scary sometimes. Strange dogs on leashes make me nervous, and I try to act tough before they can hurt me. But my foster family says I’m trying my best. They see the good in me even when I’m unsure.

The truth is… I’ve lived with many dogs before and done beautifully. Deep down, I’m not a bad dog at all. I just need someone patient enough to help me feel safe again.

I also carry a metal pin in my leg from a surgery long ago. It doesn’t hurt me anymore, but maybe it’s a reminder that healing takes time… for all of us.

Somewhere out there, I know my person exists.
Someone who won’t mind that I’m a little slower.
Someone who will understand that love doesn’t always come loudly.
Sometimes it comes quietly…
in a paw resting on your hand,
in warm eyes looking at you from across the couch,
in a dog who just wants to belong.

I’ve spent my whole life waiting for that feeling.

Maybe… maybe it’s you. ❤️

Love,
Orlo

Nowruz Animal Rescue Group's Adoption Policy
Our Foster-to-Adopt Process At Nowruz Animal Rescue Group, we follow a foster-to-adopt process to ensure that each pet and family are a perfect match for one another. This approach allows both the dog and the adoptive family to adjust and bond before making a lifelong commitment. Step 1: Application Once a pet is listed for adoption, interested families are invited to fill out an online application form. This form includes: Three personal references The name of the veterinarian who will care for the pet Step 2: Application Review & Phone Chat After reviewing the application, we contact strong candidates for a phone interview. This gives us a chance to get to know the family better and answer any initial questions. Step 3: Home Check If the phone conversation goes well, we arrange a home check to ensure the living environment is safe and suitable for the specific pet. Step 4: Meet & Greet Next, we schedule a meet and greet with the dog and the family—either at the home or a secure, neutral location. One or two meetings may be arranged so everyone, especially the pet, has time to feel comfortable. During this time, we also complete reference checks. Step 5: Foster-to-Adopt Trial If the family decides to move forward, the dog begins a foster-to-adopt trial period. We deliver the pet to their new home along with essentials such as: Collar and leash Food and treats Favorite toys We encourage families to stay in touch throughout the transition. If you need support or guidance, we are just a phone call away.
