MR BIG's Story

Meet Mr. Big

Currently located in: NW GA, heading to New England first week of September!
Adoptable in: All continental 48 United States (transport is available anywhere!)
Good with dogs: Yes, as always, slow introductions when bringing a new dog into your pack.
Good with cats: Pending kitty eval but we think he will be great with them. As always, slow introductions are best!
Good with kids: Yes, he adores children. As always adult supervision is always required when kids are present!
House trained: Yes!
Crate trained: Yes!

"I couldn't help but wonder... is home a place, or is it a person?"

Mr. Big has been asking that question for longer than he should have to.

When a kind older couple found him wandering alone, they did what any good heart would do—they stopped, opened their car door, and invited him in. They discovered he was microchipped and hoped someone had been frantically searching for their missing dog.

Instead, they learned his previous family had decided they didn't want him anymore.

It's the kind of ending no one hopes for.

But sometimes the best stories don't begin with the perfect first chapter.

The couple who rescued him absolutely fell in love with this sweet boy. If they were twenty years younger, they tell us, there wouldn't even be a conversation—Mr. Big would already be home. But loving someone also means knowing when you can't give them everything they deserve, so they're helping him search for the family that can by fostering him until Whiskers Fund matches him up with the perfect home.

And honestly? Whoever adopts him is going to wonder how they got so lucky.

Mr. Big is about 2-3 years old, likely a Lab/Anatolian Shepherd mix, and somehow manages to be both a gentle giant and an old soul. He has the kind of calm presence that makes you instantly feel like you've known him forever.

One afternoon, a tiny fledgling bird found itself on the ground before it was quite ready to fly. Most dogs would've seen a toy. Mr. Big saw someone who needed looking after. He quietly followed that little bird around for hours, never bothering it, never scaring it—just making sure it was okay.

If you ask us, that tells you everything you need to know about his heart.

He loves children with the same gentle patience. He's wonderful with other dogs, greets new people like old friends, and plays with an easy kindness that's impossible not to love. Water is his happy place, whether it's a kiddie pool, a creek, or a lake, and he's smart enough to learn just about anything if it means making his people smile.

We're planning to cat test him soon and will update everyone once we know more.

Maybe Mr. Big isn't looking for the perfect family. Maybe he's just looking for the one that won't let him wonder if he's enough ever again. Because despite everything, he still believes in people. He still chooses love.

And maybe that's the thing about Mr. Big... The right one isn't the family who finds him. It's the family who never lets him get lost again.

After all... the best love stories aren't about who walks into your life.

They're about who stays. Are you the family Mr. Big deserves?

If you think you are the right home for him, please apply to adopt here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScq8ShXPVGLfrGHlIYMk0plgI_PJxOEMdr8QItpQMXYCnluvg/viewform

The adoption fee is $650! We do not accept deposits or the adoption fee until you have met your new furbaby and are ready to bring them home.

Important Information:
All of our animals are fully vetted before going to their furever homes. They are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, up to date on flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention (dogs 1 year and older receive a Pro-heart 12 injection covering their HW preventative for 1 year), and microchipped!

You must be an approved adopter in order to go on meet and greets. This saves everyones time- especially our gracious foster families! This also allows for you to take the animals home from the meet and greet if you so choose.

We are very quick to respond and process applications! All animals are posted until they have gone home to their new family. This animal may have other interested adopters in line. Please apply quickly and be prepared to welcome them into your home within a few days if you are interested.

The Adoption Process:
After our volunteers receive the application, they contact the potential adopter to set up an interview. During the interview they will:
- discuss the animal the adopter is applying to adopt,
- talk to the adopter about their experience with animals,
- find out more about the type of animal the adopter is looking to adopt,
- go over any questions the rescue may have regarding your application,
- help find the perfect fit for the adopter's family and lifestyle,
- and answer any questions the adopter has about the animal they are looking to adopt, the rescue, and how the adoption process works.

As part of the approval process, we require 2 non-family personal references. Our volunteers contact both references and have conversations regarding the potential adopter. If we are unable to reach the references provided, additional references may be requested. We also require a vet check. We will call the vet to conduct a short reference check.

A video walk-through of the adopter's home (and yard, if adopting a dog) is also required. The safety of our animals is one of our top priorities. They deserve to have a safe and secure place to live. The video can be sent to the Whiskers Fund email address or Facebook messenger upon submitting your application. When submitting the video, please reference which animal(s) you are applying to adopt.

Once the adopter is approved and matched with an animal, we will make arrangements for the animal to go to their new home. We hope to have each animal in their new home within a week. We are very clear that we will be keeping in touch and checking in for updates.

Interested in Fostering?
We would love to have you join our family! Fill out the same application above- we have our fosters go through the same process as adopters!

Questions?
Please email whiskersfunds@gmail.com or message us on facebook!

Thank you for helping to save lives!
