Moz's Story
Meet Moz!

Moz is a handsome young pup who is ready to trade shelter life for a family of his own! At approximately 4.5–5 months old and currently under 30 lbs, he still has some growing to do. We expect him to be on the medium side when fully grown, likely around 50–60 lbs, although his adult size is only an estimate.

Without a DNA test, we don’t know exactly what breeds make up this sweet boy. His medical records list him as an American Blue Heeler, but we think there could be some Pointer in the mix as well. Whatever his breed, we hope his future family will focus on getting to know Moz as an individual.

Moz was found wandering and brought in by animal control. No one came forward to claim him, and he has been at the shelter since August. That is a long time for a puppy to wait, especially when there is a whole world outside the shelter for him to discover.

Moz enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely love having a canine friend to play with. A resident dog could also help him settle into his new surroundings, but it is not a requirement. He could do well as an only dog with a family who makes time for companionship, play, and continued socialization.

As a young puppy, Moz is still figuring things out. Potty training, basic commands, walking politely on a leash, and learning household routines will all be part of his next chapter. He needs adopters who can approach those lessons with patience and consistency, and who understand that settling into a home after shelter life takes time. Regular exercise, age-appropriate activities, and mental enrichment will help give his puppy energy a positive outlet.

Moz has not been formally tested with cats. A home with a cat may be considered, provided his adopter is prepared for gradual, supervised introductions and careful management. His experience with children has also been limited. Older, respectful children may be the best match while he learns his manners and grows into an adult dog.

A home with a yard would be wonderful for Moz, and a secure fence is preferred, but neither is required. Apartments and condos may be considered on a case-by-case basis if his family can consistently provide the exercise, training, and enrichment he needs.

We are looking for someone excited to help Moz grow up—not just enjoy his puppy stage. He will need guidance through the awkward adolescent months and a family committed to him throughout his life. In return, they will get the chance to watch a young shelter pup learn, gain confidence, and become part of their everyday world.

Moz’s shelter is severely overcrowded, leaving dogs like him with uncertain futures through no fault of their own. He has already spent months waiting for his chance. We would love for the rest of his puppyhood to be filled with the comfort, attention, and experiences that come with having a home.

Health:
Moz is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. He is currently too young for heartworm testing.

Important Information:
Moz is currently located in Texas, along with all of our adoptable dogs. Once his adoption is finalized, he will be transported to his adopter. Transportation is included in the adoption fee.

Because transport takes place after the adoption is finalized, adopters will not be able to meet Moz in person before committing.

Breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and available shelter or medical records. We encourage adopters to consider each dog’s individual personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.

MA License #479
