Moxie's Story

If resilience had a face, it would be Moxie's.

This stunning 2- 3-year-old blue merle Australian Shepherd has already overcome more than any dog should. Before coming to rescue, Moxie was found living alone at a campground, calling the public restroom her home and surviving on table scraps from kind campers. Somehow, through it all, she never lost her gentle heart or her faith that people could be good.

When you first meet Moxie, she'll politely size you up. She's a little shy with new people—but don't let that fool you. Once she realizes she's safe, she transforms into exactly what every Aussie lover hopes for: a loyal Velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be wherever you are. Working in the yard? She's there. Watching TV? She's curled up beside you. Heading out for a hike? She's already waiting by the door.

Moxie absolutely adores affection from her favorite people. Ear scratches, belly rubs, couch cuddles...she's all in. After spending so much of her life fending for herself, she's discovered that being loved is pretty wonderful.

She's also quite the adventurer! Moxie has excellent recall and would make an amazing hiking, camping, or off-leash adventure companion for someone who enjoys exploring the outdoors. She's happiest when she's with her people, whether that's on the trail or relaxing at home after a day of fun.

Like many sensitive Aussies, loud noises such as fireworks and thunderstorms can be scary. When the world gets noisy, Moxie simply wants to be close to the people she trusts. She'll quietly seek you out for comfort, and you'll quickly realize just how deeply she bonds with her family.

Moxie is:
Housebroken
Crate-trained
Great with other dogs
Spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated
Ready for her forever home!

Because fast, loud little humans can be a bit overwhelming for her, Moxie would do best in a home with children 8 years and older who understand that sometimes even brave girls need a little patience and kindness.

Moxie has survived on her own. She's learned what it's like to go hungry, to sleep alone, and to wonder where she belongs.

Now it's her turn to know what it feels like to have a family waiting for her at the door, a soft bed to curl up in every night, and a person who will never let her wonder if she's loved again.

If you've been searching for an incredibly loyal companion who will be your shadow, your hiking buddy, your couch snuggler, and your best friend, Moxie is waiting to meet you.
