Moose's Story
Meet Moose: The Gentle Brindle Giant

If you are looking for a massive heart wrapped in a beautiful brindle coat, look no further than Moose! This handsome, nearly 10-year-old Mastiff is the epitome of a gentle giant. Raised in a loving home since he was a puppy, Moose is looking for a fresh start due to a change in his family's situation. He is a sweet, family-oriented senior who still has plenty of love and a little bit of playful "romp" left to give!

Quick Facts

Breed: Mastiff (Brindle)

Age: Senior (9 years, 9 months)

House Habits: Fully potty-trained and crate-trained (though he prefers just hanging out in the house!). He handles stairs like a champ.

Health: Neutered, fully vaccinated, and current on all preventatives, slight heart murmur.

Personality & Behavior

"He loves anyone willing to pet him!"

Moose is an incredibly friendly guy who genuinely loves people-strangers and family alike. He may give a quick bark when meeting someone new or seeing a dog out the window, but it's just his way of saying, "Hey, look at me!" As soon as introductions are made, he is nothing but sweet.

With Kids: Moose is a certified family dog! He grew up alongside a little girl who is now 4, and he has been successfully around kids of all ages. Because he is a big boy, he occasionally forgets his size and might accidentally step on a toe or bump into little ones, so a family that doesn't mind a little clumsy love is perfect.

With Other Dogs: Moose does well with other dogs and currently lives with 2 other large breed dogs. He does best when fed separately from his friends and can have an attitude when the treats come out. Due to his size, and unawareness of it, Moose would do best with other large dogs in the home, or could thrive as an only dog.

With Cats: He has a history of being friendly with cats, making him a rare, multi-pet-friendly big guy!

On Leash: He walks well and has enjoyed short romps through the neighborhood.

Health & Care Notes

Moose is low-maintenance and very healthy for a senior giant breed! He just has one simple request: no chicken, please! His previous family noted that chicken-based kibble can cause ear infections, but he does absolutely wonderfully on a beef- or lamb-based diet. He also does have a slight heart murmur which we recommend continuing to monitor. Our vet partners have thoroughly assessed this and are not recommending treatment at this time.

The Perfect Home for Moose

Moose would thrive in almost any loving home-whether it includes kids, other dogs, or cats. He just wants a family who will give him plenty of affection, understand that he's a big boy who sometimes forgets his own footprint, and feed him delicious beef or lamb dinners.

Ready to add a giant dose of love to your couch? Moose is ready to meet you!

As a rescue organization, we provide all medical care, procedures, and testing that are available to us while the dog is in our care. Adopters are responsible for ongoing preventatives, follow-up veterinary appointments, and any medications as needed after adoption. In some cases, adopters may also be responsible for procedures not completed while in rescue, such as dental cleanings, additional bloodwork, or other recommended care.

Please note that we work with volunteer veterinarians and partner veterinary clinics, and protocols may vary between veterinary offices.

All adopted dogs will receive their rabies and distemper vaccinations prior to adoption.

We offer a $50 adoption fee discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help offset the cost of veterinary exams, vaccinations (rabies and distemper), heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery (if needed), and any additional medical care specific to each individual dog.

At this time, Grey Face Rescue is unable to adopt outside of Minnesota. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We do not place animals in homes where current pets are not up to date on vaccinations or are not spayed/neutered. Exceptions may be considered for documented medical reasons as provided by a licensed veterinarian. Thank you for supporting our mission to reduce pet overpopulation.

Once your application has been submitted, our Adoption Manager will be in touch. Please be sure to check your spam or junk folder if you do not hear from us within 7-10 days.

Thank you for your interest in adopting a Grey Face senior. We truly appreciate your support.
