Moose's Story

Meet Moose

Meet Moose, an 85lb, 2 1/2 year old male neutered bully breed with a gental heart. His heart matches his size! It’s hard to believe someone would willingly give him up. Unfortunately for Moose he was along with his 2 other dog best friends.

He is a small dog trapped in a big dog’s body, wanting nothing but endless whispers of “I love you” in his ear while being snuggled. Moose has mastered leaning in for attention for every praise and every ounce of love you give him, he will return it 10 fold.

Moose’s ideal family:

Moose is looking for a family that
Is experienced with a bully breed, and understands their needs. He would be so happy with multiple walks a day, and plenty of playtime. Moose would love to live with other dogs that matches his energy and play style he especially likes the ladies and smaller dogs. He was a playgroup rockstar at the shelter and a perfect gentleman at all adoption events. Moose loves all people and is gentle and affectionate even with small kids.

Moose would prefer to live without cats because he loves them too much and they don’t love him back.

Moose is a very smart boy and a quick learner who is eager to please! He knows to “sit” and “ok” before eating, walks well on a leash despite his size, he does not pull. He is a perfect gentleman when meeting others. He is food motivated, easy to train, and enjoys long walks on the beach at sunset.

Things Moose is fantastic at:

Being a weighted blanket
Snoring
Walking well on a leash
Sleeping on his back
Being a gentleman when meeting others
Big sloppy kisses
Car rides
Sitting on anyone’s lap
Laying in the sun ( I think he is solar powered)
Takes treats very gently
Getting cranky dogs to like him
Neighborhood watch
Playing with others
Kissing his future family kids and adults

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.
