Meet Monty <br/><br/>Meet Monty! A 2 year old border collie. Monty came to us as a stray from San Joaquin County in California. Monty is about as sweet as they come! He loves his people and does well with most other dogs when introduced properly. This dog is so handsome and on the taller side..he's about 40 lbs +.<br/><br/>This dog loves walks, hikes and anything active but does have an off switch when his needs are met. He would make a great dog for someone who has property who would like a chore dog. Once he bonds to you, he sticks by your side.<br/><br/>Monty acts like a young dog that maybe came from a place with little to no structure. He might have also missed out on some socializing as a puppy. In the short time he has been in rescue, we think he has experienced a lot of “firsts”. He took a lot of them in stride and was just happy to be with someone. He could use some more exposure when in public..he is pretty good on leash but will need some more leash work and mileage to get it refined.<br/><br/>Monty loves people! He is so loyal and just wants to buddy up with someone. He also loves his foster brother and sisters and does well with them. We think Monty would do best in a home with another dog, preferably a dog who can show Monty the ropes.<br/><br/>Monty Needs the following to be successful:<br/><br/>-an experienced handler who is familiar with herding breeds<br/><br/>-a home with secure fenced yard<br/><br/>-someone that is home more often than not<br/><br/>-someone committed and patient to help further his training and socializing<br/><br/>-responsible<br/><br/>Bonus<br/><br/>-another dog well behaved dog. He does well with most dogs (male and female) but prefers female dogs<br/><br/>-an active home<br/><br/>- a home all the time and is inclusive with Monty<br/><br/>Monty is a sweetheart. He rides well in the car, is learning about the crate and is house trained. He REALLY wants to do good and has the softest demeanor to him but needs some guidance when walking on leash in public. He will be great, just needs some time and more exposure.
