Montana's Story

Montana is female/spayed "squatty mommy" pittie looking for her loving forever family! After delivering *10* puppies in a scary, noisy shelter and moving to rescue and being the BEST mommy ever, Montana is finally puppy-free and the center of attention. Montana shows clear signs of past abuse and trauma. She is apprehensive with fast movements and fearful of doorways. Despite being fearful, she is not reactive/aggressive but rather more a flight risk - she'll run in the opposite direction of whatever scared her.

But if you give her a chance to open up, you'll quickly see that Montana is a darling little dog. She takes treats gently and lives for belly rubs. She knows "sit" and "down" and will quickly roll over onto her back and ask for chest pats and belly scratches. She has been in a home with dogs and cats, but her interaction with them was limited, so we don't know much about her sociability with other animals yet.

Montana would do best in a quiet, laid-back home where she can be loved at her own pace. She is sweet, healthy, and ready for forever... might you be the final placement she's been dreaming of?

Apply online here: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/6476b07912357a9a4606eddf/69b6287753afb1476501af05

Make A Stand Bully Rescue's Adoption Policy
All applicants must first complete a rigorous 6 page adoption application which is sent to our team to review. Questions are specific to dog ownership and bully ownership, in addition to questions regarding the environment the dog may be living in, if approved. Once we receive the application, we review the answers and request additional information from the applicant, to include home check pictures (both internal and external); veterinary reference (if applicable); and for some applicants, personal reference checks. Then our team members complete phone interviews with top candidates to have a conversation with the applicant and truly determine if the dog they're interested in is actually the right fit for the home environment. It would be at this point that we suggest other matches, if necessary. Once a home has been approved by our team members, we schedule a meet and greet followed by the adoption day. For some dogs, we offer foster-to-adopt trial periods so we can ensure both the dog and the home are matched well. Post adoption, we provide lifelong resources and community network to ALL adopters.
