Monday's Story
Approximately 3.5 months old, as of the writing of this profile: April 19, 2026, Sweet Monday is the most darling dog.

Her parents were bred by a backyard breeder with no regard for canine life and the Mom was shot for reasons unknown. The breeder wanted the puppies gone NOW or threatened the same fate as the Mom, so a neighbour facilitated intake to a rescue and Monday and her brother Sunday were transferred from that rescue to the care of Mattie's Place and the rest of the litter went to other rescues.

As of April 14th, Monday weighs in at 18.1 kg / 40 pounds.

Monday will be a big girl, presumably in the 80 - 90 pound range. But we don't have a crystal ball, so she could be smaller or larger, we'll just have to see how she grows.

Being a mutt, we're uncertain of all her breed mixes, but she does have some working breed DNA in her, so a home that understands a large breed dog's needs.

Monday has a very sweet nature. She is loyal and kind. She will require daily activities for her body and mind, so an adopter that enjoys adventuring at a middle entry level would be a great mix for her. I'm sure she'd love to couch potato all day, but that's not healthy for her.

Monday does have a heavier coat, so will need daily grooming as she grows her coat in more so and during higher shedding seasons it will need even more attention. And for best upkeep a professional groom a few times a year. Be sure this cost and commitment is factored in when considering adoption.

Monday did have an allergic reaction, with her eyes swelling, to a bug bite but quickly resolved with Benadryl as prescribed by her emergency vet visit. No other medication was needed, so she'll do best having Benadryl on hand at all times. We are not seeing any food or treat intolerances or allergic reactions. She arrived to Mattie's Place with a low quality chicken protein dog food and we're slowly transitioning her to a higher quality fish based protein puppy food and she's tolerating the transition well.

Monday is sweet with dogs and cats and kids and all humans. Just a really nice puppy.

She'll do best, as she'll be a large breed dog, to work with a professional trainer to ensure she stays as sweet as she is in this moment.

She will have a non negotiable spay date in August, at the cost of Mattie's Place, at our veterinarian (dependant on where the adopter is located). This spay date will be agreed upon and written into the adoption contract. She will also receive 2 more rounds of vaccines|dewormer|parasite prevention at 1 month intervals with her 1st being April 4, 20256

Looking for an amazing companion? Monday should be considered as your new best friend!

FROM HER FOSTER:

Monday is a big, lovable pup with an even bigger personality. She is a curious little explorer who loves to take in everything going on around her. She has absolutely no idea how big her paws are and proudly stomps around like a tiny horse.

Like any puppy, Monday has lots of playful energy (watch your shoes!). She absolutely loves sifting through baskets of toys to find her favourite and appreciates a good game of tug. A second close favourite are blankets and towels- always rearranging these items around the house to her liking.

Monday is very food motivated, which makes her a great candidate for training! She has already caught on to āsit", ālie down", and ācrateā and with a little consistency should have these mastered in no time! She loves her kibble and eats enthusiastically-no reminders needed! She is currently eating four meals a day and is transitioning from chicken to fish-based food without any issues. In true giant puppy fashion, Monday is still getting the hang of drinking water⦠expect a few puddles (and a bit of drool) after she visits the bowl!

Monday does really well with her routine. She sleeps soundly in her crate overnight for 7ā8 hours and settles nicely right from the start. During the day, she naps in her crate 2ā3 times for a few hours at a time and does well, though she will let you know when sheās ready to be back with her people with a few cries at the end of her nap.

She is doing very well with house training and has had no accidents when kept on a consistent schedule of potty breaks every 2ā3 hours (after a few initial learning days with some surprise gifts). She does not require pee pads.

Monday loves being outside and is always eager to explore, though she can be a bit unsure with loud or sudden noises and benefits from gentle reassurance.

She has done wonderfully with our 7-year-old resident dog. While she was a bit unsure at first, she quickly warmed up and now loves being around him, often looking to him for guidance. She would likely thrive in a home with another dog to play with and learn from.

With her playful spirit, growing confidence, and love for both fun and snuggles, Monday is going to make an amazing companion!

-----------------------

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

-----------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.

-----------------------

Mattie's Place does not deem any dog in our care hypoallergenic, allergy-free or non-allergenic. Unless you are willing to take daily medication to manage dog allergies, please do not apply to adopt because I can't risk a dog being returned due to allergic reactions.
