Mollie's Story

Mollie is a 6 yr old, 10 lb, Yorkie/Chinese Crested mix. How do we even describe her? She is a unique, special girl looking for a family who will love all her quirks!

First of all, Mollie has no sense of adventure and is a total homebody. She enjoys the comforts of home like a nice comfy couch. She has no desire to go on walks and does not enjoy car rides (she will hide under a seat, shaking the entire time). Whenever she is in a new, unknown environment, she is a nervous, shy girl. But, inside her home, she is happy, playful and very friendly! She will greet anyone (even a stranger) who walks through the door with so much exuberance!

While Mollie is very friendly, she gets nervous when someone picks her up/carries her and she is not a big cuddler. She likes to hang out near you and enjoys a scratch behind her ears, but she is not a lap dog.

Despite her sometimes having anxiety, Mollie doesn't have an ounce of aggression. Even when she is at her most scared, she has never even growled or shown her teeth. The worst she will do is urinate if she gets extremely scared and that is very rare.

Since Mollie doesn't trust the outside world, she does bark when she hears noises. However, her previous family did not like it and got her debarked. She isn't totally silent when she barks, but it is not loud and it doesn't even sound like a bark. Very hard to explain the noise she makes, but she sort of sounds like an alien.

Mollie loves food! She came to us very overweight, but went on a diet and is the perfect weight now. Still, she scarfs down her meals and acts like you never fed her. Meal time makes her the most happy and she will spin in circles until she is fed. Mollie will not take your food while you're eating it, but, if you set it down, it's fair game and she will snatch it.

Mollie has allergies. She has food allergies and is on a specific kibble diet that works well for her but, during the spring, she also seems to have some environmental allergies that make her skin red and flakey. If it goes untreated, she will develop sores. When she shows any of these symptoms, we give her an allergy shot and it helps. We also regularly bathe her. Fortunately, she hasn't had any flare ups in awhile. Since she is mixed with Chinese Crested, the hair on her back is thin and is not from allergies or health issues. She will need an occasional haircut, especially for her face where the hair comes in full. We can recommend a great groomer if you are local and don't already have one.

Mollie gets along with cats and does great with other dogs. She would love a small pup to play with in her next home.

Mollie is housebroken and crate trained as well. She does fine left alone, but, if she has free roam of the house, just make sure she cannot get to any food.

Besides her allergies, she is very healthy! She is vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped.

Mollie is quirky, but she is sweet, funny and, everyone who spends time with her, falls in love.

If you're interested in Mollie, please submit an adoption application on our website at www.dominoeffectanimalrescue.org
