Moki's Story

Name: Moki
Breed: Terrier Mix
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: 13 years
Weight: 14.5 lbs
Animal Number: 4653

Fun Little Buddy, Loves Walks - Has Medical Needs

Good with dogs? Moki may do well as an only pup so that he can soak up all of your love, or he may be fine with gentle dogs once he feels comfy. He does best with other small dogs when he meets them in a peaceful environment and can set boundaries as needed. Being with calm doggie friends helps balance his spunky terrier energy. He can get overwhelmed by big dogs, even if they are very calm, and bark. He will bark when he’s out walking on leash and sees other dogs.

Good with cats? He does well with one of the cats in his foster home, and he and the other cat keep their distance from each other. He may be cat selective.

Good with kids? Moki will do best with older kids since he can be mouthy.

Energy level: Medium. He loves to lounge in his home, but is energetic while taking a nice long walk on a leash or running around in a yard. He enjoys hiking and can go for 3 miles! He is starting to play a little with toys and balls.

Medical needs: Moki has a malignant mass on his thyroid that was just checked, is not spreading, and treatment is not recommended at this time. He will require follow-up with his adopter’s family veterinarian. Dogs with such slow growing tumors may live comfortably for months or more without showing any clinical signs. He has had a dental cleaning and many extractions.

Animal Characteristics: Moki is a mellow, quiet little guy at home who likes to nap and be in your company. He is super happy and energetic on his walks! Walks are his favorite time of day and he can cover a good distance. He will likely bond and be most attached to his caregiver, and need some time to warm up to new friends. He loves going on car rides and doesn’t need to be crated. He will bark when he hears or sees other dogs. He knows “sit” and is busy learning other commands. He will do well with a patient adopter who will take the time to win his trust, since he can be guarded at first. His adopter can continue his training and socialization so that he feels confident in various situations. Moki is a fun, sweet little dog who will make a delightful companion. He gets noticed and admired wherever he goes!

Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. My adoption fee is $100. You can also contact my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org if you have questions. I look forward to meeting you!
