MOIRA's Story

• Loves human company. • Prefers chill vibes in order to come out of her shell • House-trained! Moira is the kind of dog who will find the warmest spot in your home, curl up in it, and look at you like she has always belonged there — because as far as she's concerned, she has. She is gentle, deeply sweet, and once she decides you are her person, she will follow you from room to room with quiet, devoted loyalty. She will supervise you in the kitchen. She will watch television with you. She will steal your warm spot the moment you get up, and she will not apologize for it. Getting to that point just takes a little patience. Moira is a dog who takes her time, and that is genuinely one of the best things about her. She needs a calm, peaceful home where she can decompress and open up at her own pace. The good news is that once she does, she is an absolute dream. She is house-trained, learns quickly, and once she understands what you need from her she follows through every single time. Her foster describes her as incredibly cuddly and genuinely easy — and they mean it. One thing worth knowing: Moira does not love being startled. She is not a dog for a chaotic or unpredictable environment, and she would do best as the only pet in a quiet home with adults who will give her the space and steadiness she needs to fully trust. She redirects easily when she needs to — she just needs someone who understands her and sets her up to succeed. Moira has been waiting a long time for the right person. She is so ready for it to be you.

Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
We ask that everyone in the household meet the potential new furry family member. Come look through the profiles of our residents available at our front counter, and walk a dog or play with a cat. We are always happy to answer questions about a pet and help you decide whether he will be a good fit. If you rent, you will need to supply a copy of your lease stating you are allowed to have pets. If you own, you will need to supply proof of home ownership.   Each animal leaves with its first set of shots, dewormer and flea treatment. All animals are spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to going home. All dog adopters receive a $200 credit toward canine training. You will also receive a health exam certificate that entitles you to a free "healthy pet" checkup at a local veterinarian clinic.  FAAS located at the North end of Grand St at 1590 Fortmann Way. Adoption hours are noon-4PM Tuesday through Sunday. (We are closed Mondays.)
