Moe's Story

My name is Moe, and I am cat-workable! That means with proper introductions and training, I can be redirected away from cats by experienced adopters who know how to safely teach me about having feline siblings. I also love other dogs!

I am very friendly and very active, and love to do zoomies! A fenced yard where I can run around and play, and perhaps another hound to play with, would be my dream! Maybe even someone to run or jog with, or a doggy door so I can go outside whenever I get the urge to stretch my legs.

My foster family is teaching me how to be a good house pet, and they have two senior greyhound littermates who have taught me where the boundaries are when it comes to playing. I can play hard, which isn't always compatible with other dogs who have different play styles. But I am easy corrected and am growing into a great dog.

I can be a bit "sassy" and demanding at times, which my foster parents will correct by telling me to "leave it!" I do listen to correction; I just sometimes can be a little puppy-like in my initial impulses. If you are willing to give me a chance, I can be a super fun adventure partner for you!

* * * * *

Adopters must meet the following requirements:
- Live in Indiana (Western Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Eastern Illinois, or Nashville, TN may be eligible depending on location and volunteer availability to conduct a home visit)
- Primary applicant(s) at least 25 years old
- Live in a home (no dorms, apartments, etc. - sorry!)
- Fenced yard (no invisible fences)
- Willingness to keep dog on a leash whenever not in a fenced yard

We look forward to working with you to find your new best friend! Prison Greyhounds's Adoption Policy
Adopters must meet the following requirements: - Live in Indiana (Ohio, Kentucky, or Illinois may be eligible depending on location and volunteer availability to conduct a home visit) - Primary applicant(s) at least 25 years old - Live in a home (no dorms, apartments, etc.) - Fenced yard (no invisible fences) - Willingness to keep dog on a leash whenever not in a fenced yard Adopters must watch a short video explaining care of their new dog, as well as read the Prison Greyhounds adoption handbook. Next, an online application should be completed on our website. Our board will review your initial application, and if we believe you would be a good match for a greyhound or lurcher, we will reach out to request that you submit the $25 application fee. Please do not submit the application fee until it is requested, as we cannot refund this fee, and we do not want to disappoint anyone. After the application has been reviewed and fee paid, an adoption coordinator will reach out to conduct a phone call and review some basics of greyhound/lurcher care as well as answer any questions you may have. A home visit will be conducted, and we will work together with your family to determine if the dog you're interested in is the right fit for your household or if another dog might be best. After adoption, your adoption coordinator will check in with you to ensure your dog is acclimating to the change. If you have any challenges, we are happy to help provide advice! We look forward to working with you to find your new best friend! To begin the process, visit: https://prisongreyhounds.org/adoption/

Our Mission
Prison Greyhounds finds appropriate homes for greyhounds and greyhound lurchers. This includes retired track racers, field racers, blood donors, and the “farm” greyhounds that never raced. Most of our current dogs are greyhound lurcher mixes or "hero hounds". Lurchers are the forgotten underdogs of the greyhound world. The...
