Mlle Sweet Chanel's Story

Hi. I'm Chanel.

I'm a 2-year-old Beagle/Husky mix, and I weigh about 47 pounds.

I'm sweet. I'm cuddly. I'm smart. I'm funny.

And once you get to know me, you'll discover that I have a wonderfully silly side that tends to come out when I'm feeling happy and safe.

I am currently living with my foster family in Nanaimo, BC. but I can travel to Vancouver area and Washington or Oregon if there is a potential adopter for me.
My adoption fee is $800 Canadian

Adoption Application Link:

https://forms.gle/rh4RkabUr7fYkRDV9

(If not clickable, copy & paste into your browser)

Here is my story:

I was found alone, hungry and sick in a ditch. I love to play, I love being around my dog friends, and I have a talent for making people laugh with my antics.

But after all that playing?

There's nothing quite like settling into someone's arms.

I'm a cuddly girl at heart.

I'm also very smart and eager to please. I learn quickly, and I would absolutely love a person who enjoys teaching me new things. Tricks, training, little games that make me think — I think learning together could be one of my favourite things.

I'm currently being fostered with several other dogs, and we all get along wonderfully. Some of my happiest moments are spent playing with my foster friends.

I'd love to have another playful dog in my forever home, and I can also live with cats!

Children, however, aren't the right match for me. Sudden movements make me uncomfortable, so I would be happiest with adults who understand my need for a calm and predictable environment.

A Few Things I Already Know

I'm already house-trained.

I have some leash skills and am continuing to learn, so my new family should be prepared to help me become an even better walking companion.

I'm moderately to moderately-high energy, which means I enjoy having things to do. Walks, playtime, training and adventures with my people would make me very happy!

And then there's my food allergy.

My foster family has discovered that I'm very allergic to chicken, so my forever family will need to be careful about what I eat and what treats I receive. No chicken for this sweet girl.

Other than that, I'm a healthy girl who is ready to get on with life.

What I Want Now

I've already learned that life can change.

I went from being a frightened, hungry puppy alone in a ditch to becoming the goofy, playful girl you see today.

I've learned that people can be kind.

I've learned that there are other dogs who will play with me.

I've learned that there are safe places where I can curl up and relax.

And now I'm ready to learn one more thing:

what it feels like to truly belong.

I want a family who will give me time to settle in and help me understand that this is where I am staying.

I want someone who will laugh when my goofy side comes out.

Someone who will play with me.

Someone who will teach me new tricks and celebrate when I get them right.

Someone who will let me curl up close when I'm ready for cuddles.

And maybe another playful dog who will become my very best friend.

I don't need a perfect life.

I just want a safe one.

A loving one.

A life where I can finally stop wondering what happens next and simply enjoy being someone's girl.

If you're looking for:

A sweet and affectionate companion

A playful girl with a wonderfully goofy personality

A smart dog who loves to learn

A cuddly companion who loves being close to her people

A dog who enjoys having canine friends

A moderate to moderately-high energy walking and play buddy

A girl who has already come a very long way

And a warm-hearted soul who is ready to give her whole heart to the right family...

Maybe I'm your girl.

I started my life not knowing whether anyone would come for me.

Someone did.

And because they did, I got the chance to become the happy, silly, loving girl I am today.

Now I'm hoping someone else will come for me.

Not to rescue me this time.

But to take me home.

I think I've waited long enough for my forever.

Yours Truly,

Chanel

Nowruz Animal Rescue Group's Adoption Policy
Our Foster-to-Adopt Process At Nowruz Animal Rescue Group, we follow a foster-to-adopt process to ensure that each pet and family are a perfect match for one another. This approach allows both the dog and the adoptive family to adjust and bond before making a lifelong commitment. Step 1: Application Once a pet is listed for adoption, interested families are invited to fill out an online application form. This form includes: Three personal references The name of the veterinarian who will care for the pet Step 2: Application Review & Phone Chat After reviewing the application, we contact strong candidates for a phone interview. This gives us a chance to get to know the family better and answer any initial questions. Step 3: Home Check If the phone conversation goes well, we arrange a home check to ensure the living environment is safe and suitable for the specific pet. Step 4: Meet & Greet Next, we schedule a meet and greet with the dog and the family—either at the home or a secure, neutral location. One or two meetings may be arranged so everyone, especially the pet, has time to feel comfortable. During this time, we also complete reference checks. Step 5: Foster-to-Adopt Trial If the family decides to move forward, the dog begins a foster-to-adopt trial period. We deliver the pet to their new home along with essentials such as: Collar and leash Food and treats Favorite toys We encourage families to stay in touch throughout the transition. If you need support or guidance, we are just a phone call away.
