Mister Sim Sim - found himself in an Ontario shelter, lost and not claimed by his owner.<br/><br/>He required BOAS surgery which was completed September 9th, opening up his nostrils and shortening his soft palate to help him breathe better (frenchie problems)<br/><br/>He was noted, on intake, by one veterinarian to have a heart murmur, in August, but in September at his BOAS surgery we had a 2nd opinion completed and the surgeon did not hear a heart murmur. I will take Mister Sim Sim back to the original vet at some point to have them listen again and update their medical records as I do not believe Mister Sim Sim to have heart concerns.<br/><br/>Mister Sim Sim is considered a Fluffy French Bulldog. A fluffy French Bulldog is a purebred Frenchie that carries two copies of a rare, recessive long-hair gene (FGF5 or LH gene), giving it a longer, softer, and plush coat.<br/><br/>Mister Sim Sim is estimated to be 3 years old and we've given him a DOB of August 1, 2023. He is microchipped, but it's an out of country microchip so getting information for it is still in progress.<br/><br/>Mister Sim Sim does exhibit some separation anxiety, but is improving weekly. His separation anxiety manifests as vocal and not destructive, so because of this he'll need to be in a home without shared walls. In the crate or out of the crate. With the resident dogs or without, he'll be vocal if left alone without humans in the home.<br/><br/>Mister Sim Sim is just a really nice guy. He's friendly and loving. Playful and sweet. He does well with humans and dogs he meets, though he is a bulldog, so can play a little rougher than smaller dogs may enjoy. He's a solid boy, smaller, but weighing in at 14.3 KG / 31.5 POUNDS. <br/><br/>A home with bully and / or bulldog experience is preferred for temperament and pushy personalities. Also, understanding brachycephalic breeds is really important to keep a Frenchie safe, especially during the summer months. Though he had BOAS surgery, there still will be restrictions in his life revolving around heat and breathing concerns. There are also health issues that can come with French Bulldogs; breathing issues; temperature intolerance, vulnerable to chronic ulcers, dry eye and various eye traumas due to their shallow and bulging eyes, dental disease and digestive and skin issues.<br/><br/>A home with or without resident dogs is welcomed, but if there are resident dogs, they would need to be of equal or larger size than Mister Sim Sim. He is not cat tested but he did show some serious overly peeked interest in my 15 pound foster dog, who he was fine with when he eventually met him, but I wouldn't trust him with a cat, as I could see him taking chase if the cat ran.<br/><br/><br/>FROM THE FOSTER:<br/><br/>Meet Mister Sim Sim — The Handsome Gentleman on House Arrest <br/><br/>Hello, my name is Mister Sim Sim, and before we get started, I’d just like you to take a moment to admire my good looks. I’ll wait. <br/><br/>Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let me tell you my story.<br/><br/>It all started when I found myself in a little trouble and ended up in the slammer. Luckily for me, the wonderful people at Mattie’s Place bailed me out! I was placed on what the humans call house arrest, otherwise known as a foster home.<br/><br/>Well, let me tell you—I had those humans wrapped around my little paw in no time. I said hello to my new foster family and my three furry siblings, and we became friends pretty quickly. I’m a laid-back kind of guy, so I settled in like I’d been living here forever.<br/><br/>I’m calm in the house, enjoy a nice cool floor, and have discovered that walls make excellent headrests. I share my space nicely, learned the household routine quickly, and apparently have excellent table manners. My foster mom says I eat like a gentleman. Obviously. I have standards.<br/><br/>I’m also surprisingly good on a leash. What did you expect? I’m a Frenchie. We are naturally talented and extremely handsome.<br/><br/>Now, we need to talk about the crate.<br/><br/>Apparently, my foster family thought it was a good idea to put me in a box.<br/><br/>A BOX.<br/><br/>After I had just gotten out of jail!<br/><br/>I tried to explain that I was innocent, but they weren’t buying it. Then they tricked me with a treat. I went in, the door slammed shut, and I immediately began planning my escape.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, the crate was stronger than I was.<br/><br/>So I did what any respectable Frenchie would do.<br/><br/>I sang.<br/><br/>And sang.<br/><br/>And sang some more.<br/><br/>I’m pretty sure any nearby neighbours would have assumed I was being tortured and called the pup police.<br/><br/>Eventually, they let me out. I celebrated by giving them lots of love... but apparently my heartfelt apology wasn’t enough because there was ANOTHER crate in the bedroom that night.<br/><br/>I tried one more escape attempt, but my foster mom put her hand inside with me. I rested my head on her hand, and eventually I fell asleep.<br/><br/>I hate to admit it, but...<br/><br/>The crate isn’t so bad at night.<br/><br/>I’m now a crate pro when my humans are home. When they leave, however, I still feel the need to express my feelings through song. <br/><br/>My foster family has also discovered that I occasionally like to leave my personal autograph behind. Apparently, I’m not the first dog to do this because I could smell some previous signatures. I just wanted to add my contribution!<br/><br/>To help with that, I wear a belly band when I’m left out. And honestly? I look pretty fabulous in it. Fashion is fashion.<br/><br/>I’m slowly learning that when my humans leave, I don’t need to sing my entire repertoire. I’m getting better, although I still like to perform an occasional daytime concert.<br/><br/>And I swear this foster home has cameras in the walls because somehow they always know what I’m doing when they’re gone. <br/><br/>But enough about my minor criminal record.<br/><br/>Here’s the important stuff:<br/><br/> I’m a very laid-back guy.<br/> I love my furry siblings and enjoy having doggy friends around.<br/> I enjoy watching a good soccer game—and I also love playing soccer! I’m always ready to chase the ball and show off my athletic skills.<br/> I’m a great walker.<br/> I LOVE car rides.<br/> I even enjoy boat rides—because apparently I’m a Frenchie who likes to vacation.<br/> I love cuddles and would happily occupy your lap.<br/> I enjoy good food and consider myself quite the gentleman at mealtime.<br/> I’d really love a fenced yard where I can safely wander and enjoy some freedom.<br/><br/>My foster family is very active, and when they aren’t at work, I get to go pretty much everywhere with them and my three furry siblings.
