Mister Sim Sim - found himself in an Ontario shelter, lost and not claimed by his owner.<br/><br/>He required BOAS surgery which was completed September 9th, opening up his nostrils and shortening his soft palate to help him breathe better (frenchie problems)<br/><br/>He was noted, on intake, by one veterinarian to have a grade 1 heart murmur, in August, but in September at his BOAS surgery we had a 2nd opinion completed and the surgeon did not hear a heart murmur. I took him for a 3rd & 4th opinion at different veterinarians and all came back as no heart murmur heard. I will have an EKG completed as the original vet is insisting she can hear a grade 1 heart murmur still, when nobody else can.<br/><br/>Mister Sim Sim is considered a Fluffy French Bulldog. A fluffy French Bulldog is a purebred Frenchie that carries two copies of a rare, recessive long-hair gene (FGF5 or LH gene), giving it a longer, softer, and plush coat.<br/><br/>Mister Sim Sim is estimated to be 3 years old and we've given him a DOB of August 1, 2023. He is microchipped, but it's a European microchip, so getting information for it is still in progress.<br/><br/>Mister Sim Sim is just a really nice guy. He's friendly and loving. Playful and sweet. He does well with humans and dogs he meets, though he is a bulldog, so can play a little rougher than smaller dogs may enjoy. <br/><br/>He's a solid boy, smaller, but weighing in at 14.3 KG / 31.5 POUNDS. <br/><br/>UPDATE: Mister Sim Sim had a meet & greet October 4th. They had a resident dog and a visiting dog at the home and Mister Sim Sim absolutely did not do well with the dogs and was quite reactive. <br/><br/>Surprising, since he was in foster care with multiple dogs without issue, so I sent him to our trainer, for a board, assess & train, where he had some mild reactivity on arrival day, but has since settled in and is fine with all the dogs, and there are many dogs in board & train with the trainer.<br/><br/>His biggest issue seems he wants to be the fun police, so when dogs start getting ramped up and excited in play he wants them to all settle down quickly. <br/><br/>I still wouldn't trust him with a small dog or cat and he'll do best with a dog his size or larger, but he's remained quite neutral to the other dogs he resides with in training and did great with the 3 resident dogs at his original foster home (and also was great with dogs he met on walks at his foster home). <br/><br/>Bit of a conundrum with Mister Sim Sim so we can call him neutral / selective based on October 4th, simply because the behaviour was seen.<br/><br/>A home with bully and / or bulldog experience is preferred for temperament and pushy personalities. Also, understanding brachycephalic breeds is really important to keep a Frenchie safe, especially during the summer months. Though he had BOAS surgery, there still will be restrictions in his life revolving around heat and breathing concerns. There are also health issues that can come with French Bulldogs; breathing issues; temperature intolerance, vulnerable to chronic ulcers, dry eye and various eye traumas due to their shallow and bulging eyes, dental disease and digestive and skin issues.<br/><br/>A home with or without resident dogs is welcomed, but if there are resident dogs, they would need to be of equal or larger size than Mister Sim Sim. He is not cat tested but he did show some serious overly peeked interest in my 15 pound foster dog, who he was fine with when he eventually met him, but I wouldn't trust him with a cat, as I could see him taking chase if the cat ran.<br/><br/>FROM THE TRAINER HE IS CURRENTLY LIVING WITH (OCT 11th FEEDBACK):<br/><br/>Sim Sim is a lover boy. He's always searching to see where you are and naturally sticks by closely. He greets me in the morning with the same routine, a butt that wiggles uncontrollably and a sweet little raised up paw. He truly wants nothing more than to be loved on. <br/><br/>Sim has been great with every human met regardless of age. He can be very chill but also have enough energy to run for hours if it involves a ball. <br/><br/>Sim Sim sleeps in his crate at night, and although previously had issues with being vocal in it, there haven’t been any issues since his time with me. <br/><br/>The boy loves a good treat or chew and his kibble which he gets twice a day. <br/><br/>Sim Sim currently gets hiked daily with other dogs which some he seems to struggle with more than others. The ones that pay no mind to him he seems to do best with, but ones that have a bit more intense energy are harder for him to jive with as he wants to control that energy. <br/><br/>Cats would not be recommended as he does have prey drive towards smaller animals. <br/><br/>We normally start our day between 6-7am and last potty is typically 10-11pm. <br/><br/>He does walk nicely on his harness. He can fixate on distractions but with movement he is successful. I share my space nicely, learned the household routine quickly, and apparently have excellent table manners. My foster mom says I eat like a gentleman. Obviously.
