Missy's Story

MISSY 3 Year Old Black Female Lab Mix 60 Pounds SPAYED

Background:
Missy’s owner has made the hard decision to rehome her due to having to focus on her other dog.

What Missy’s owners have to say about her:
Missy is a three-year-old Labrador retriever and Australian Shepherd mix she was adopted from the Toledo animal shelter in 2023 where she was born. Missy is very well socialized and gets along well with her human and dog friends. She is suspicious of cats but has cohabitated with one in the past. Missy has lived in San Francisco for close to two years and enjoys going to daycare, going for long walks and especially playing fetch. Although it should be noted, her favorite way to play it is more akin to keep away versus a true retrieval activity. Missy has gone on many long road trips and tolerates the car well.

Missy knows many basic commands, including sit, stay, wait lay down and as well loose leash walking in most situations. She also knows a couple of commands in Korean and accidentally learned “paw or shake” as “sohn”. She does know come and touch for recall, however she does exercise her ability to selectively listen. We are still working on jumping up to say hello but getting better every day and occasionally she has a habit of counter surfing. She enjoys playing while eating or solving puzzles to eat. She enjoys destroying paper and boxes and stuff toys. Missy absolutely loves the vet and has absolutely no fear of going to the vet. When she did social is it with her I will go veterinarian, and it has always seemed like a happy place. Yes, she does get overheated really quickly in warm weather and she’s not very attracted to water especially when it’s raining. She has had fun playing in the ocean. Missy is very healthy has no medical issues, is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on her vaccinations.

Missy is very loved in her home and her rehoming is based on financial circumstances related to caring for her and another pet with complex needs. Missy really thrives with interaction a lot of exercise and is very food motivated. She loves learning and she loves exploring and going on adventures.

What Missy’s rescue rep has to say:
Missy is an amazing Girl and will make a wonderful addition to any pack. She is a very friendly, confident, curious and independent dog. She is housebroken and at this time not currently crated. She goes to doggie day care on a regular basis and gets along great with other dogs. Missy knows many commands and loves to learn new commands and would be a Great dog for nose work. She is a very friendly playful dog and prefers the company of her humans. She has been around cats but it is not really something she enjoys.

She can be in a home with kids but maybe older kids as she will jump up at times when she is excited. Missy gets out for at least 2 walks per day and walking in the city with all the noises does not bother her. (She does not like the vacuum.) She sleeps on her bed or the couch. Once in awhile Missy may counter surf.

Medical:
Missy is in Great shape and has no medical issues. She is spayed, updated on her shots, is microchipped current on all of her vaccines. She takes preventatives on a monthly basis.

Missy is currently located in: San Francisco

If you are interested in adopting SWEET MISSY, please contact Rescue Rep Liz at liz@jobshopsf.com – please email information about you and your situation!
