She's a sweet girl who is slowly coming out of her shell. Missy is shy, but you can tell she wants to be loved because she will come for pets when we're petting our other dogs. She is just looking for her special person. Missy needs a fenced yard and another confident dog in her new home. <br/> <br/>Age: 4 years old, she will be 5 in December. <br/> <br/>Size: 23 pounds and 14-15 inches tall. <br/> <br/>Temperament: Shy, timid, reserved, loyal and loving. <br/> <br/>Fence: Missy needs a secure fenced yard. <br/> <br/>Dogs: She was raised with other dogs so she will need a confident dog to teach her the ropes and help her feel comfortable in her new home. <br/> <br/>Cats: No cats in her foster home but she grew up with cats. <br/> <br/>Kids: Missy would do well with older kids who know how to give her space. <br/> <br/>Crate Use: She eats in her crate and will go into it if needed. She has been given free run of her foster home without any issues. <br/> <br/>Housetrained: Yes, but she doesn't indicate when she needs to go out so scheduled potty breaks will be needed. <br/> <br/>Responds to Cues: Missy responds to her name, come, upstairs, go outside and go to bed. <br/> <br/>Leash Walks: Missy is working on leash walking. <br/> <br/>Car Rides: Rides quietly in the car in a crate. <br/> <br/>Activity Level: Moderate, she enjoys a good run in the yard but also is content to chill on the couch or in bed with her foster mom. <br/> <br/>Barking: Missy barks with the other dogs outside but not to excess. <br/> <br/>Health: Missy tested positive for Lyme disease when she came into rescue and was treated with antibiotics. She will need lab work done in 3-4 months to make sure the Lyme is under control. She had a dental with some extractions. <br/> <br/>Experienced Home: Missy needs a home that has experience dealing with shyer Shelties. She has her safe spots, under a table and in a corner and needs someone that will allow her to progress at her own speed. <br/> <br/>Missy spent a week at a vacation foster home and adjusted well to the dogs, schedule and foster mom. This makes me think that she will adjust well in the right forever home. The groomer said that Missy did well and seemed to enjoy her grooming session. She has gotten the nickname of "Messy Missy' because she likes to mess up the pillows and blankets on the bed after her foster mom has made it.<br/> <br/>Adoption fee: $350<br/>We adopt locally in the Twin Cities metro area of Minnesota.
