Missy — Female, 7 years old, Jack Russell Terrier<br/>Missy spent the first part of her life in a puppy mill, which means she never got the chance to just be a dog. Despite that rough start, she’s turned out to be one of the sweetest souls you’ll meet — she’s just still learning that the world is safe.<br/><br/>She’s shy at first and needs time to warm up to new people. She’s come a long way and isn’t fully trusting of humans yet, but with patience she opens up beautifully. If you’re the type to let a dog come to you on her own timeline, Missy will reward you for it.<br/><br/>She’s wonderful with other animals — gets along great with dogs and cats alike. Right now she walks confidently on leash as part of a pack of three, and she’s working on building the confidence to walk solo too.<br/><br/>Missy is a watcher. In chaotic or noisy situations, she’ll hang back and observe, always keeping herself ready to step away if she needs to — she’s not reactive, just careful.<br/><br/>Thunder doesn’t really bother her, though she can get a little tense; having a calm pack around her that isn’t fazed by it helps her relax right along with them.<br/><br/>Missy would do best in a home that understands rescue dogs move at their own pace — ideally one with another easygoing dog or two to help show her the ropes. Give her time, and she’ll give you her whole heart.<br/>I will need a secure fenced in yard to keep me safe. I'm currently being fostered in Aiken SC.
