Missy's Story
Missy is a tall, slender little lady at around 12 pounds and approximately four to five years old, and behind her soft eyes is a story of love and loss. After the passing of her human dad, Missy found her way to the rescue, and it’s clear she’s still adjusting to such a big change. She may be timid at first, but give her just a little time and patience, and you’ll watch her blossom right before your eyes.

Once Missy feels safe, her personality begins to shine in the sweetest ways. She’s gentle, a bit submissive, and incredibly loving, but she also has an adorable goofy side that comes out when she bonds with her person. Her little circle dances and playful antics are guaranteed to make you smile, and it doesn’t take long, within minutes, she’ll decide you’re her new best friend.

Missy thrives with a calm, understanding approach. She does best when allowed to come to you on her own terms, with soft voices and gentle encouragement. Because she can be fearful in new or overwhelming situations, she would do best in a home without young children. Older, respectful kids who understand how to give her space would be a better fit. While she has never shown aggression, like many sensitive dogs, she may react out of fear if she feels cornered or rushed.

She gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and ages, having lived with both a 120-pound companion and smaller pups. She may also do well with dog-savvy cats, though her playful curiosity means she might be tempted to chase if they run—so a confident, calm feline friend would be best.

Missy walks on a leash and harness, but like everything else, she just needs a little time and patience to feel comfortable in new environments. Slow introductions, low stress, and lots of reassurance will help her continue to grow into the confident, happy girl she’s meant to be.

Missy is truly a loving, sweet-natured dog who just needs someone willing to see past her initial shyness and give her the compassion she deserves. In return, she’ll give you her whole heart, and a lifetime of quiet loyalty, gentle affection, and those irresistibly silly little dances.

Name: Missy

Breed: Mixed breed - Chi X Jack Russell

Age: ~4-5 years

Weight: ~12lb

Sex: Female, spayed

Colour: White and tan

Medical: No concerns

Good with dogs: Yes

Good with cats: Suspect yes with proper intros

Good with kids: 12+

Energy level: Medium

Crate trained: Unknown - but does well riding in crate when in the car

House trained: Suspect yes - does not mess in her kennel
