Miso's Story

Meet Miso - The Dog Everyone Has Overlooked... But He Just Might Be Your Perfect Match.

For over a year, Miso has been waiting in rescue for someone to see the incredible dog hiding behind his timid first impression. While other dogs have found their forever families, Miso continues to wait-not because he isn't wonderful, but because he simply needs a little time to trust.

After surviving life on the streets of Southeast Louisiana, Miso learned to be cautious. But his new foster discovered something amazing. Within just 24 hours, his walls began to come down, revealing the sweet, intelligent, loving little dog that's been there all along.

Today, his tail wags every time he sees his people. He eagerly seeks out pets, kisses, and kind words. Once Miso lets you into his heart, he'll become the most loyal friend you've ever had.

Miso is incredibly smart and has wonderful house manners. He's fully housebroken, sleeps peacefully in his kennel (as long as you tuck him into his blankets like the little burrito he is!), doesn't dig in the trash, doesn't chew shoes or furniture, and is respectful of his home. He responds beautifully to gentle guidance because he truly wants to please.

His greatest joy? Tennis balls! Skip the expensive treats-Miso's love language is tennis balls (with oyster crackers coming in a close second). He'll happily play fetch, catch balls in midair, and play until he's completely "balled out."

Miso also loves soaking up the sunshine and relaxing outside with his people. While he enjoys the occasional car ride, he's not the dog who's going to want to spend every weekend hopping from brewery to coffee shop or bustling event. He's a homebody at heart. His happy place is the comfort of his family, his familiar surroundings, a sunny backyard, and the people he loves most.

He's also shown that first impressions aren't always the full story. When he first met his foster family's dogs while on leash, he acted defensively-a response likely rooted in his past and uncertainty. Once everyone relaxed and the leash came off, tails wagged, noses touched, and friendships formed. Today, he's happily enjoying the company of his canine foster siblings.

Miso doesn't need to be "fixed." He simply needs someone willing to give him the time and grace to settle in.

For more than a year, people have overlooked him because they never stayed long enough to meet the real Miso.

Don't let another year pass him by.

The family who gives Miso a little patience will be rewarded with an incredibly devoted, affectionate, funny, ball-obsessed companion who will love them with his whole heart.

Almost 2 years old
Neutered
Microchipped
Up-to-date on vaccines
Heartworm negative
Housebroken/Kennel trained

Miso has spent over a year waiting for someone to choose him.
