Minty's Story

Name: Minty
Nickname: Mamas, Little Miss Piglet
Breed: French Bulldog
Age: 2.5 years
Sex: Female
Weight: 25 lbs
Before OMD: Minty was found as a stray and brought to a shelter with a severe skin infection and sores from scratching herself raw. Her shelter notes read, “laying in park, shaking and skin is irritated.” It took a long time to get her skin infection and allergies under control.
Health: Minty has a history of severe skin issues and allergies. She currently takes Apoquel to manage her allergies and also has a poultry allergy, so she needs an appropriate diet. Her ongoing allergy management will need to continue in her adoptive home.
Energy Level: Completely polarizing! Minty can play for hours or be the ultimate couch potato.
What We Love Most: Her underbite, head tilt, and all the little hearts on her coat (especially the one on her tail) are pretty irresistible. Add in expert-level cuddling, enthusiastic kisses, and her dramatic morning stretches, and you’ve got Minty. Just don’t expect her to get out of bed promptly. She has standards.
Her Favorite Things: Food, snacks, treats, toys, her foster brother Beans, the dog beach, and doggie daycare. Minty loves every toy she meets, but especially the ones Beans is playing with. She’ll hoard the entire collection, then seem confused about what to do with it all. When they finally agree on a game of tug-of-war, her Chewbacca-like noises are pure gold. Her daily schedule is simple: eat, play, eat, sleep, snuggle, eat. Her life motto? Food. Nothing else matters.
Housebroken / Crate Trained: Yes, but it took time and consistency to get there. Minty is currently housebroken and crate trained, though she previously had a couple of preferred potty spots and briefly had accidents in her crate. Those issues have improved, but we absolutely expect setbacks as she adjusts to a new home. Her adopters should be prepared to revisit potty training and maintain a consistent routine.
Dogs: Minty has done well with most dogs she’s met (including at doggie daycare and the dog beach) and she loves her foster brother Beans. She can also have a dominant side and occasionally guard toys and food from other dogs, so thoughtful introductions and boundaries, and a compatible canine companion are important.
Cats: Unknown.
Kids: We believe she will do fine with dog-savvy kids, with supervision around young children because she can jump up (and nibble looking for food) when excited.
Minty is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She’s available to residents of CT and surrounding states. Please complete an application from our website if interested in adopting
