Minnie (adoption pending)'s Story

Meet Minnie!

At 27 pounds, Minnie is the perfect-sized terrier mix with a gentle heart and a thoughtful approach to life. New places and new experiences can feel a little overwhelming for her at first, so she appreciates being given the time and patience to settle in. But once Minnie feels safe, her sweet personality begins to shine.

Minnie is a sensitive, submissive girl who responds beautifully to kindness, routine, and understanding. She loves knowing what's expected of her and quickly learns the household rhythm. In fact, once she's finished playing outside, she'll happily crate herself because she knows it's part of her routine!

This smart little lady is very tuned in to her people and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. She could be happy as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the attention, but she also gets along wonderfully with other friendly dogs. Having a canine companion can even help her learn the ropes in a new environment faster. She enjoys running, playing, and spending time with her dog friends, but she's also perfectly content entertaining herself with toys.

Minnie is house-trained and prefers to do her business outdoors. She's generally a quiet companion, only speaking up when she spots something exciting or an activity she'd love to join.

Because Minnie is a bit cautious by nature, introductions to new people and dogs should be taken slowly and at her pace. She hasn't met children yet, but respectful kids who understand that friendships take time would likely be a good match.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will reward your patience with deep trust and devotion, Minnie might just be your perfect match. Give her a little time, a steady routine, and lots of love, and you'll discover a wonderful best friend waiting to bloom.

Operation Paws for Homes's Adoption Policy
Our organization provides pet adoption services to families located in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania and neighboring states. We believe in responsible adoptions and strive to work with each adopter to find a good match for their home and lifestyle. Our adoption process includes completion of an application, a vet check, an interview, and a personal “meet and greet” where the family can meet and interact with their potential new four-legged family member. Throughout this process, we work to ensure each family and dog are the right fit for each other. We are fortunate to have some wonderful and active volunteers who help OPH find forever homes for over 1,000 dogs and cats a year. The key to that statement is - volunteer! Please remember that our organization is driven by caring individuals who give their personal time to help rescue these animals and provide them with the opportunity to find an amazing future! In addition to adoptions, volunteers carry out education and outreach events throughout the area, and conduct donation drives for our partner shelters in the south. Our goal is to offer a second chance to dogs and cats abandoned in shelters and out of time. Sadly, without our help, some of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - sometimes within days of arriving at the shelter. Each year we rescue hundreds of wonderful dogs and cats. We work hard to unite them with forever families who will give them the life and love they deserve. These animals are saved only because of the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors, and volunteers.
