Minnie's Story
Meet Minnie, a 2.5-year-old Dogo Argentino mix with a soft heart, a goofy spirit, and so much love just waiting to be poured into her forever family.

Minnie’s story didn’t start easy. She was found abandoned and pregnant at a job site, doing her best to survive while navigating the world with limited hearing. A kind passerby stepped in and brought her to safety, ensuring she made it to a shelter where she could finally receive care. While there, Minnie was spayed before her babies were born and began heartworm treatment. After everything she had been through, she came to our rescue to heal, decompress, and learn what it truly means to feel safe.

And Minnie? She is blossoming beautifully.

She’s proving to be quite the velcro dog with her people. She is goofy, playful, affectionate, and incredibly loyal. She bonds deeply and wants nothing more than to be close to her humans. While initially believed to be deaf, we realized that she was actually just a little timid and may have mild hearing loss. Minnie is very attentive and can hear a whistle from across the yard. She is very responsive and eager to connect.

Minnie loves other dogs and approaches the world with a sweet curiosity. It’s clear she missed out on early socialization, but watching her experience new things for the first time has been something really special. She’s learning quickly, building confidence every day, and showing just how much she wants to please.
She has even met farm animals (including pigs) and cats. Minnie is generally curious but a little wary, approaching new critters thoughtfully rather than impulsively. She does not appear to have a prey drive and would likely do very well with continued exposure and proper supervision as she builds confidence around other animals.

She is crate trained, loves car rides, and is making great progress on leash walking. She already knows how to sit for treats and is highly motivated to keep learning. Minnie is steadily gaining weight and should be around 65 pounds at her ideal size.
Minnie has all the makings of an incredible family dog. She just needs a home willing to continue guiding her, showing her the world, and helping her grow into the confident, happy dog she’s meant to be.

She is fully vetted: up to date on core vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and has completed heartworm treatment.

Minnie has come so far and has so much more ahead of her. Could she be the sweet addition your home has been missing? Apply to adopt at CRAPrescue.org/application.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet/the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Minnie's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
