Mini Fée's Story
Born 11/20/18, 7 year old Mini Fée, lived in a home with 8 dogs. Her owner has dementia and over the past few years Mini Fée and the others suffered from horrible neglect. They mostly spent 24/7 crated with pee pads with an adult son coming in to feed/change pee pads.

She may have been breeding these dogs. The history is a bit spotted and unclear.

Mini Fée was surrendered to the Quebec shelter by the son, when bylaw became involved. She arrived with horribly long nails, dried ear and eye secretions, a coat that was horribly matted with dried feces and urine caked in.

The shelter did an amazing job cleaning up Mini Fée and helping her begin her healing journey.

Due to the extreme cost of bringing them up to date medically, the shelter requested a transfer to rescue, so they joined Mattie's Place.

Mini Fée weighed in at 4.5 pounds on arrival to Mattie's Place and is underweight and could use another pound or 2 on her body. She had to have all her teeth removed on arrival as they were all rotten. It was discovered that she had a complete split in her lower left jaw bone where tooth 309 would sit. It is fused by scar tissue but there is some instability in the jaw in that area. She will require 6-8 months of soft food only and nothing sharp or hard to chew on so that jaw has enough time to fully heal without more trauma.

Mini Fée is just a really great, sweet and friendly little dog that did not carry any trauma from her past into her present.

She would do best having her person home most often or a take to work option, as she does exhibit some separation anxiety. Because of this, a home without shared walls would be best, as you can't be with your dog 24/7 and sometimes you do have to leave a dog home alone. Unless you have family, friend, neighbour support she can go to when you can't be with her.

Mini Fée will need multiple grooms to get her nails back to an acceptable length and her coat glistening white again, but that will come in time as her past fades away and her bright future becomes the norm. From there she will need regular grooming with a professional groomer, so be sure that's budgeted as a cost to adoption.

Mini Fée is great with dogs. I'm certain she would be more than fine with cats. I will not place her in a home with kids under 12 years old, just because she's so fragile with her size and due to her jaw injury she can't be bumped or toppled on by a toddler as an example.

Mini Fée is ready to find her for-always home! Are you her person?

FROM THE FOSTER:

Mini Fée is a very sweet and affectionate little dog who truly thrives on human companionship. All she wants is to be close to her people, and she loves curling her tiny body up against her favourite human.

She integrated beautifully and almost immediately with my three other dogs and is now happily part of the pack.

She eats her meals moistened with water and has a healthy, enthusiastic appetite. Mini is still working on pee-pad training, but because she is so small, any accidents are easy to manage.

She absolutely loves to play.

Mini is very low-maintenance and asks for nothing more than gentle care, kindness, and your loving touch. 💕

------------------------------------

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
