Minerva's Story

**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Minerva, aka Minnie for short, is a 3 year old, Aussie/Border collie mix who weighs in around 40 lbs. She’s got a few lbs to lose, as her ideal weight would probably be around 30 lbs.

She’s actually a petite nugget! And she’s been in foster for way too long. Let’s talk about it.

Minnie, like her breeds suggests, is a high energy herding dog. She’s loves people, and is looking for an active couple or single person to be her forever. Minnie doesn’t do well with kids because of the herding. Little people are meant to be herded, and she doesn’t understand why the big people don’t agree.

Minnie is perfectly potty trained. She doesn’t love a crate, but relaxes in a pen when her foster person isn’t home.

Minnie can be dog selective. She met a very sweet puppy the other day when she went in for some shots & did amazing, but she does not do well with other dominant females. She would thrive being an only child though! She is in foster with cats, and would be fine with a dog savvy cat sibling.

We have to believe there’s a lovely couple or single person looking for a potty trained adult dog to share their life and adventures with. She would love to go for long walks, and hikes, do fun things, and then snuggle you. Her love for all people cannot be understated. She’s also wondering if you’ve ever thought about dog sports? She’s eager to learn and would love that structure of learning a new skill with her person.

If you think your life matches her dream life, and you’ve been looking for a new best friend - apply today!

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
